It's Super Sunday!

Happy Super Bowl Sunday!

The one day of the year where I eat a half pound of a processed cheese product with salsa mixed in along with a bag of Tostitos and feel no guilt.

Poor Cooper, his team did not make it to the big game and I don't have the heart to tell him.  Luckily for us he's color blind so maybe he won't notice, however, there is no number 18 on either team playing today, and he is a very smart dog.

(So honestly, who do you feel more sorry for, a dog whose person dresses him up, or the person who feels the need to dress her dog?)

This is one of my favorite days of the year, followed by the saddest day of the year, where I start counting the days until it all starts again.    I have a friend whose 3 year old son really got into the Christmas spirit this year, and when his mom told him it was time to take down the Christmas tree, with tears in his eyes he said, "but why, and when can we get another one?" That's how I feel about football.

Since I "don't have a dog in the race" I'm routing for a close and exciting game.

I hope you have a Super Sunday too!

  1. At least you can tell Cooper thet Peyton won comeback player of the year! As an Eagles fan this season could not end soon enough! But I can't wait to see how the team does with a new coach.

  2. Oh I know what you mean about being sad that it's over. People think it's strange that I'm the football fan in the family, not DH. My team didn't make it either, so I'll root for the Ravens, because I live in MD. Hope it's an exciting game for all!

  3. I love football season too and sewed down lots of binding this year during games. Now it's a wait until March Madness... I'm cheering for San Fran today.

  4. Bet those folks have been having fun in Nawlins! While I don't care about either team this year, at least the commercials should prove interesting!!

  5. I'm not a "professional" football fan, but I look forward to this day because I can make a pot of chili in the crock pot so when the game starts here (around 3:00 p.m.) hubby can eat when he likes and I can have a quiet day to knit, do a crossword puzzle, or just watch a favorite movie--peace!
Have fun and I do know what you're going through--hubby experiences the same thing when the World Series is over in the fall!!

  6. I have a Papa Murphy's pizza in the fridge... though I will have a glass do wine with mine instead of beer. And I will stitch down a binding while I watch. I am rooting for Baltimore... it's an older sibling thing.

As for poor Cooper, I always feel sorry for the sweet dog. But he obviously loves you... he is sitting there very nicely while you take his picture. :)

  7. I'm not usually a huge football fan, but this year I have to be. I grew up near SF and now live an hour away. I understand how you feel about football because that is exactly how I feel about baseball. Every night my husband asks, "How long till baseball?" Needless to say, I'm a Giants fan.

  8. Cooper's a smart dog - Go Broncos! However, since we are new to Colorado and came from California we are hoping the 49'ers win!

  10. I, too, go into football withdrawal the first Sunday after each Superbowl so I feel your pain. Poor Cooper, I, too, wanted to see Peyton in the game today, but sadly, not meant to be. So, I'm pulling for SF and my current favorite player to watch, Kaepernick (however, you spell his name.

  11. Even though they beat my Green Bay Packers, I'll cheer on the 49'ers... got to stay with the NFC! I think if Cooper is willing to sit still while you put a football jersey on him, he's meant to wear it proudly!

  12. Cooper is adorable as always! I will watch the game and especially the commercials. I like football but then there will be baseball to watch in a few weeks. Enjoy your dip and chips!
    Hugs,

  16. Oh, Thelma....my sentiments exactly! I LOVE football season, and it is a sad, sad day when it comes to an end. I was rooting for the Broncos, too, but even more the Texans......I live in Texas. But I was happy with the outcome of the Super Bowl.....the Ravens were great this year, and the 49ers were too. It was an exciting game, even with the weird 35 minute light problem. It's always over too soon. Carol

  17. Well, I knew your dog was super smart, but when I saw he's a Bronco fan, just confirmed that he's super, super smart! As they are my team too, sad when you aren't in the game. Next year Cooper!
