Chicken Feed . . .

When I was looking at the quilts I had finished during 2013, I realized that I had forgotten to blog about one, this one!

This is Lifetime Quilt Number 119
The pattern is Chicken Feed by Carrie Nelson for Miss Rosie's Quilt Co
The fabric is Potluck by Jane Klop for American Jane by Moda
This quilt finished at 43" x 43"
It has approximately 397 pieces.

The top was quilted by Diane Tricka.  I'm crazy about the quilting in general,  but in particular love the design in those snowball blocks.

My favorite thing about this pattern, other than the fact that I made it out of my Morning Joe scraps, it took two days to piece, start to finish, and its size, are that the star points float!  I just love it when a designer floats the point of a star because try as I might, I cut the tip off at least one star point per project, usually more.  You don't lose any star points with this pattern.

You can buy and download this Schnibbles pattern now, click here.

I've got this quilt out on my red couch,

I'm really enjoying how it brightens up my red couch, the room, and my spirits these gray days of January.

  4. Such a bright and cheery quilt on this very cold day in NH though it is a few degrees warmer than last Sat. when we were minus 14. Today is a balmy 9 degrees!

  6. I've got some precuts of that fabric collection, and your recent quilts have really made me want to get them out and start cutting. I'll add this one to my list - looks great!!

  8. American Jane's fabrics look bright and cheery. It's interesting to see the contrast between the white background and the black background in both of your lovely quilts

  9. Such a warm and cozy quilt to snuggle with on these cold days. I love how colorful it is and reminds me of the "chicken feed" fabrics my mother sewed our clothes from. XOXO

  12. I almost made this one myself Thelma but since I had (& still have) a 'backlog' of projects, I passed on it. But I like the pattern and I really love yours...the fabrics make it a happy quilt. Perfect for a pick-me-up kind of winter's day.

  16. Love! I really like all the quilts you display on the red couch. As much as I love to quilt...I can't decorate and my house is all neutral! Someday when I don't have to worry about little hands drawing on my quilts, maybe I can actually display them.
