I have been wanting to comment about the ...Thelma,
I have been wanting to comment about the poinsettia. It is lovely....I have really good luck with them as they will retain most of their colorful blooms throughout the spring. During the summer they still have their green leaves until I cut them back. You can get them to rebloom by putting them in a closet October 1 so that they have no more than 10-12 hours of light. (Even artificial light counts, so you need to put them in room or closet that is dark to ensure they have 12 hours of darkness.) I’ve gotten them to that point but have trouble remembering to bring them out of the dark closet for 10-12 hours of light. I think it comes down to is a challenge of getting into a routine. Here is more information: http://gardening.about.com/od/winterinthegarden/a/Poinsettia.htm (And by the way, I don’t cut mine back that severely as is indicated in the article.)

So it is a lot of bother in the fall, but I really do enjoy my poinsettias for as long as possible- having them around in the spring is as delightful as seeing the first daffodil.

Lovely, lovely quilt.denise copelandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12898723810224245326noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1282341523536457596.post-67837316834819054662012-02-02T08:30:07.598-06:002012-02-02T08:30:07.598-06:00Awww...sad little leaf!
