It's A Very Special Day . . . .

Happy Leap Day!

I'm making the most of my extra day by spending the entire day in my sewing room, wearing pjs, and not cooking, but I do plan to eat! If you can't spend the entire day doing exactly as you wish, I hope you'll at least take the time to do something to make this day special. You won't be getting another extra day for four more years!

I've heard from a few folks that Joe Wood of ThimbleCreek Quilts mentioned in a newsletter that I was working on his pattern French Vintage, I figured I better post an update on that project to give those folks and you something to look at.

Here's the next border of blocks, all ready for their sashing. I think you can see the slight difference between the background fabric for the inner blocks and the background fabric for the next set of blocks. Next up, more checkerboard sashing for those outer blocks.

It's also Leap Day Superior Thread Giveaway Day!!

Elizabeth, at Occasional Piece Quilt, read my earlier post about wanting to do something special in my sewing room on Leap Day and asked if I would be willing to participate in a thread giveaway with some other folks on February 29th. Who would turn down free thread? So the deal was that I could pick any 4 spools of Superior Thread, I could keep one and giveaway three.

Up until this giveaway came along I never gave any thought to my thread. I use a brand of thread that someone recommended to me when I first started sewing. I've never had any problems with that brand of thread and I never took the time to research other brands of thread.

I have now learned that Superior Threads makes all kinds of thread in all kinds of amazing colors, plus they make silk thread, glitter thread, rainbow thread, vanishing thread, and NiteLite extra glow thread! There is thread for quilting and thread for piecing. They even make thread that is white indoors but changes color when outdoors!

Given all these fabulous choices what do you think I picked . . .

Master Piece thread by Alex Anderson.
I know, given all those wild and crazy options why did I pick something so generic? I wanted to try something that I thought I would use, and I thought I would use this thread.

Here's the skinny on Master Piece thread:
it's #50 / 3-ply extra-long staple Egyptian-grown cotton
comes in 600 yd spools
comes in 75 colors
is ideal for piecing, appliqué, lacework, bobbin, and fine quilting
is also available in hand appliqué thread packs and 2,500 yd cones.

Besides wanting a thread that just does its job, I thought it would be interesting to see how much lint this thread produced.

Here's my sewing machine all clean.

Here's my sewing machine after going through one full bobbin of thread. Some lint, not tons, but less would be better. I'm going to sew with my new thread and then report back.

If you would like to win those three spools of thread just leave a comment on this post relating to thread. What thread you use, is thread important you, anything will do. You have until Saturday, March 3rd to leave a comment. If the post office delivers to your address you're eligible. I'll announce the winner on Sunday along with the results of my lint test.

Several other bloggers are also participating in this giveaway, and may be giving away more exciting thread than what I picked, go check them out!

  2. I have never tried this thread. Would love to try it out. I am kind of new to quilting and I use Coats and Clark.

  3. I think the only Superior thread I've used is King Tut. I really do like it. I've heard a lot of good things about Master Piece. I'm looking forward to seeing your follow up post about the amount of link. Happy Leap Year!

  4. Hai Thelma, First of all I would like tomtellmyou I already received the pattern of the French Vintagenfrom the ThimbleCreek Quilts. It takes a short time to receive the pattern in the Netherlands. I don't have any experience with the Superior thread, but I should like to sew with it. Up till now I only use the regular sewing thread. Thank you again for the intervenience for ordering the pattern.

  5. I never paid much attention to my thread, but often choose the Mettler line of thread just because I've used it, the quilt shop carries it, etc. So, I would love to try a new kind of thread. Enjoy your quilting day today!! ajks100@gmail.com

  6. I love Superior Thread's lines; I use Masterpiece for piecing, So Fine for bobbins sometimes, and we use Signature and Omni for our long-arm. I've tried Aurifil but the price differential doesn't show up in the piecing.

  7. I LOVE Superior Threads. Bottom Line is wonderful for machine quilting. It is a fine thread and therefore the bobbin lasts longer, an extra plus!

    ReplyDelete
  8. I use coats & clark 100% cotton. I don't have too much linting from it which is nice and very few breakages. I've wanted to try some other thread tho because there aren't many colors available from coats & clark in the 100% cotton.

  9. I have always used King Tut for the quilting I have done on my home machine and I love the gorgeous variegated colours they have in that line. I've never used any other Superior threads. Recently I found an online source for Aurifil on clearance so I stocked up, but I haven't tried it yet. King Tut is going to be hard to beat! I'd like to try other Superior lines, as well.

  10. I have always used Coats & Clark, but I would love to try something new.

I have "the Bottom Line" on my machine right now.

  12. What a fun post! I really like the Masterpiece thread but can't find it in stores around here. I mostly use Aurifil because my machine loves it!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I've used whatever was in the thread box in the past and then a friend gave me some Aurifil to try. There was definitely a difference . Lots less lint. I've read about Superior and it's on my list "to try" so it would be fun to win some to get started!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I have always known that different threads will produce different amounts of lint. I made the decision long ago to use a thread that will give me the least lint. Some cotton threads leave a lot! of lint in the bobbin case, but sometimes I just have to use it. I look forward to your comparison. I've heard good things about Superior. I've only used bottom line when doing applique. I'm guessing Sapphire by the looks of your picture ... Enjoy your extra day! Thank you for all your inspiration!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I love Aurifil thread for piecing but can only buy it on-line so I tend to use Coats most of the time as my local haberdashers stocks it and I like to be able to choose the colour in person! Thanks for the giveaway! Enjoy your extra day!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I am fussy about my quilting thread and usually use King Tut but I have been less selective about piecing thread. Maybe I need to try the good stuff! Thanks for the chance to win.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I am an aurifil gal but would like to try this thread out to compare, thanks for the chance!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I've been using Mettler thread. I haven't tried too many others. I think it is time for me to exploe a bit more!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I usually just use thread from JoAnn's. I do try to use an all-cotton thread though.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I have used masterpiece, black, only once for some thread painting! It was in a class and teacher provided. Would love to try it again on my own.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ive been using generic thread but recently moved to Aurifil but its so expensive and difficult to get here, have used superior in the past but not for piecing

    ReplyDelete
  22. I started off using Coats & Clark because that's what was available and honestly, never had a problem with it. I've been using Aurifil for about a year and it's thinness is great for helping with the scant quarter inch seams. Thanks for having a giveaway. I think your selection of colors is perfect. Happy leap day!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I have heard of Superior thread but never used it! I prefer Aurifil threads but they are not easy to find locally. I would love to try some Superior thread! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Have a great day, Thelma. I look forward to tomorrow's post featuring all that you got done!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I have not tried Superior thread, but would love to try it. I like Aurifil but it is pricey and not available locally. Thanks for the info.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I must confess to using whatever thread is on sale!! Price has become very important to me now that I no longer work. This is a great opportunity! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I am new to quilting so I have only tried the cotton thread that is available in Joanns. I would love to try some new thread.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I usually use Gutermann as that is what I can buy locally. I would love to try soemthing new. thanks for the chance!

    ReplyDelete
  29. It's funny but I have never really thought about thread much. I have used Guttermann, Connecting Threads and mostly use Coats and Clark Dual Duty. Would love to give Superior a try.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I always used my mothers threads .. that is those I could move to my tiny little stash. I do have some thicker Gütermann for hand sewing because the other stuff just rips apart too easily. Gütermann is about the only brand I know because that's what they used to have in a local fabric store when it still existed. I just have threads I liek better tahn others. But I'm always open to try somethign new.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I mostly use Coats and Clark thread...and I usually use plain white or black. I'd love to try this Masterpiece thread! Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I usually use polyester thread called Arena from a Polish company Amanda, as it's really the only good one available locally. I have one King Tut cotton spool I use for little touches in special projects ;) and would love to try more.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I use a variety of threads for piecing - Essentials by Connecting Threads, Gutterman and I recently purchased Aurifil, but haven't tried it yet. For hand quilting I like YLI. I would love to try Superior and look forward to hearing what you think of it. Thanks for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I've never tried Superior thread, but would like to. I have been using Aurifil thread for piecing and quilting, but I notice the long-arm quilters use a lot of other threads, so I probably need to try some new things, too.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm sure loving that quilt. I'm pretty snobby about my thread, but haven't yet tried Superior. I've heard it's great. Currently I use Aurifil, and it really does lint less.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I usually use Gutterman...but have tried Auriful and lately Essentials.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I would love to try some Superior thread. I use a lot of Coats and Clark from Wal-mart since I don't have a quilt shop close by. I also have used Connecting Threads line of thread and Aurifil. I love how the Aurifil looks when I machine quilt even though I read recently on a quilt group that you're not supposed to use it for that.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I use a lot of different threads. I do love the Bottom Line thread Superior makes since I long arm quilt. It is wonderful.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Being relatively new to quilting, I know thread's important - especially for the machine quilting end of things. For piecing, a wonderful lady at the fabric store suggested upping to 50 wt thread (Star Egyptian cotton) for strength and it's worked quite well. I've struggled with invisible thread, too...tricky to keep the tension right.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Thank you for the chance to be entered in your Superior Thread Leap Day giveaway. I have been quilting for awhile now, but I want to achieve the crisp clean look that so many of the blogging quilters achieve. It has been suggested that I step up the quality of thread that I use. It would be wonderful to be able to do a blog post about "how I've improved".

Now I get to go peruse your previous posts. This is such a fun way to meet bloggers and have a morning cuppa. Come on over to my place and say "hi".

    ReplyDelete
  41. I love superior thread, and specifically masterpiece. It's the only thread I piece with and it's awesome. I hope you like it. Thanks for the great giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love Superior Thread also. I use Masterpiece to do my piecing and use So Fine for my longarm. Love it!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I LOVE my Masterpiece thread from Superior! It really does make a difference in how much lint is left in the sewing machine. Wouldn't use anything else! Hope you like it as much as I do!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'm pretty new to all of this, so trying new fabrics, threads and techniques is SO fun. And I even get a full 24 hours of extra time this year to do it in!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I've always used cheap cone threads, but after this blog hop I'm thinking it is worth is to change it up. Thanks for the chance to win. I'm hosting a zippy bag giveaway on my blog this week if you want to stop by. :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. I have been using this thread for about a year now and I absolutely love it!

    ReplyDelete
  47. The lint test is a great idea--I'm curious what it will show! I've never used any Superior thread, but would love to give it a try too!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'd love to try this thread! It's the first time I've heard of this one. There are so many out there it would be great to try something new. Thank you for the chance.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Thanks for the giveaway!

I have never used good thread before and really never gave thread much thought. Would love to work with some good stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I love Masterpiece for piecing and for handwork doing my hexies. It never knots on me like other threads do.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I usually use Aurifil but I certainly have some Masterpiece in my collection as well and like them both a lot. Fuzz is a fact of life for us I think and if I'm really "going to town" on a project, a nuisance to take time out to get rid of it. Thank you for the chance to win. I love your French Vintage quilt. It's just beautiful.

  52. I use cotton thread for my piecing and quilting. And I match my thread to my quilt so usually have a different colour in the bobbin than the machine. Haven't tried Superior Thread yet but will look for it now.

    Thanks for doing the giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I like your scientific approach. I generally use whatever thread I have and all seem to stitch without problems. But I've never done a lint comparison. Looking forward to seeing what you find. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I use cotton thread, but hopefully I will be able to try something new. Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I like the Masterpiece thread but my local shops don't carry it so I end up buying Gutterman's when it goes on sale at JoAnns and it works well for me. Patty E

    ReplyDelete
  56. Those are the colors I would pick for piecing. Thanks for a chance to win.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Okay, so I've only been quilting a year and I finally bent to the understanding that higher quality fabrics were better to use for quilting. I am finally getting it on thread as well. I have primarily used Coats and Clark, but have recently tried some Mettler and Gutterman. It's just hard on the pocketbook to spend that for thread!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I have switched to Aurifil for piecing and have noticed a HUGE difference in my stitches and how my machine works. I thought it was the machine not working properly and now Coats and clark is relegated to hand piecing of misc. projects and not to go near my machine again! I'd love to try Superior threads to have another go to. I have used Mettler and gutterman extensively and find they don't do very well either. I can't tell you how much money I squandered at what was "sale prices" for C&C, Mettler and Gutterman. Not worth it.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I love Superior threads and would be happy to win anything they make.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Great giveaway! I like Aurifil for piecing and I've used the Connecting Threads thread for piecing too and have had success with it, I use a lot of Signature and Superior threads for longarming and love Silk TIRE thread for applique!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I generally use Gutterman thread - I haven't heard of Superior before. I'd love to try some!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Loving the variety of threads in the giveaways today. I use Gutterman for all the great colors & have also switched recently to using Aurifil too.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Well, I started out using Gutterman and bought Mettler once because that was the brand that was available at a quilt shop I was at. Mettler is by far my choice now...especially better to bind with...less knots when you are hand stitching. Last month I ordered Aurafil, but I haven't used it yet.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I usually use Gutterman, but sometimes will use Coats and Clark.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I use pretty much whatever thread I have. My husband bought a box of thread at an auction and being the thrifty person that I am, I can't buy more thread when I have all of this. I did check it to make sure that the thread was still good and it was. I know that I should probably be using Masterpiece, but you know the story. Thanks for the giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I love thread! I'm partial to Guttermain, but will admit to using lesser quality at times. Really, just love all the colors! I could stand and stare at all the threads at the store forever just trying to figure out which ones I want!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I would love to try this thread!

    ReplyDelete
  68. My Viking can be picky about thread so mostly use Coats and Clark plus some big cones of Superior.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Thanks for the giveaway. I currently use Gutermann 100% cotton thread, which I like just fine but always kind of wonder if something else would be better. You know that whole "it made all the difference in the world" thing!!! I'm also currently waiting for an order from Connecting Threads, including some of the thread which is inexpensive adn comes on huge spools, and I have heard good things about it.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I use all kinds of threads, but Aurifil has been my go to thread lately though I do have a few spools ofMasterpiece and one King Tut in my special box to use on special occasions. Once I start sewing with it though I hate to take it out, I just don't want to run out...guess I should buy more!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I always use Gutermann thread but I would really like to learn more about different types of thread and other brands too. Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  72. I have a real lint problem
and would love to try this thread

    ReplyDelete
  73. I had always used Metrosene or Gutterman threads, they were what my mom used for dressmaking and what I used for the same and carried it over into quilting. In the last couple of years I have learned what thread does in a seam allowance and that the size and strength can matter. Lately I've been using Presencia 60 weight thread in my piecing and it really does make a difference. When I go back to using the other threads I feel like I am threading yarn through my machine. I've wanted to try Superior or the Aurafil to compare them to the Presencia. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depends on how you look at it), the shop that carries the Presencia is about an hour away, so I stock up when I go. It comes in a smaller range of colors-the 60 wt-but I stick to neutrals when piecing. I save some money by getting it on a large cone.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Thread is very important to me, even though I have very little in supply right now.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Thanks for the great giveaway. We use C&C because is readily available at Wal-Mart (the rural country store) though also use some Connecting Threads that my mother ordered. We both quilt so use lots of thread for piecing, hand quilting, and basting.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I use a variety of thread, depending on the project I am working on, the color that I want to use and the brand available locally when I need to replenish my thread collection!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Bottom Line by Superior is ALWAYS in my Janome, I rarely use anything else for bobbins as is it fantastic! Hope I win some of this, I've never used Masterpiece...

    ReplyDelete
  78. I hope you enjoy your sewing day in your jammies! :-)

I've always used Mettler but in recent months I've been using Precencia and love it. I'd enjoy trying Superior thread.

    ReplyDelete
  79. All of the superior threads I used didn't produce much lint. Even on the longarm machine I don't have to clean the bobbin very often.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I love Superior threads!
thanks for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Your quilt is just simply gorgeous ! I use Superior Threads.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I actually use a variety of threads, depending on the project. My new favorite piecing thread is Aurifil.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Hi Thelma! What a great giveaway! I have been using Masterpiece thread for the last 2 years. My SIL sent me a spool of it and I was hooked. It is by far the cleanest thread I have found. About a year ago I tried out the pre-wound bobbins and I haven't wound a bobbin since. I can't say enough good things about Superior threads. Thanks for a chance. Hugs...

    ReplyDelete
  84. I never tried this thread before but I would love to! I tend to use white thread in my quilts. Thanks for the giveaway. igarciadi@gmail.com

  85. LOVE THIS THREAD!
Thread is important,I think, considering the price of cotton fabrics and the time we put into a project;I think it is good to use quality thread. #50 is what I use most. Thank you for sharing!

    ReplyDelete
  86. I love Superior threads for all of my quilting! They not only make great threads, but they're great people! Thanks for the chance! (Love the French quilt in progress, by the way!)

    ReplyDelete
  87. I have been learning so much online. Until last year, I had been on a mission to use ALL the thread left to me by my grandmother 20 years ago. Now I know how important it is to invest in new thread - quality thread like Superior - and not risk using old thread that may have deteriorated over time. So I've love to have a few spools to try out - thanks for hosting the Giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  88. I use DMC 50# thread for piecing. It does have some lint but not too bad and works well to help with a more accurate 1/4" seam. Be interested to see how this thread works for you. I ordered the French Vintage pattern and got it in the mail last Friday...can't wait to get started on it, because I'm LOVING your example. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Hey! Sunday is my birthday! :) Since I'm so new to quilting I didn't know there was a difference in the thread you use. I use Guttermann because that's what a friend suggested. I'd love the chance to work with something else and see if there's a difference! Thanks for the opportunity! :)

    ReplyDelete
  90. I've been using Aurifil lately - the Mako I think. It does the job, but I'm really intrigued by this Superior thread. Can't wait to try it out.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I use whatever thread is in the drawer...which is a lot of thread. Mom gave me her thread collection that is many years old, and I have a rack of old wooden spools with old thread. I use it all. Of course, the lint factor is out of this world, so I just keep vaccuming out the machine and blowing the lint from the needle area. I am no thread snob; if I win and like the results, I may just become one. Then I will have a giveaway on my blog of all the old stuff..... :)

    ReplyDelete
  92. if I can get my hands on it I use Aurifil. But I would like to try this too. Thanks for the give away!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Haven't tried Masterpiece thread yet but always willing to try a product that comes highly recommended! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  94. I use Alex Anderson's Masterpiece thread for all of my quilting projects. I really like this thread.

  96. Thread is important, and I tend to use the threads from my quilt shop (not sure of the brand). I'd love to try this thread, so thanks for the giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I have tried Superior Threads for general piecing and quilting but didn't know they had such a variety of different threads.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I use mostly Metler right now because that's what is available around here. Hopefully, will soon get others to try. Thanks for the chance.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I can echo much of what's been said--the thread depends on the job. I have a love of all things bright and colorful, so my fabrics and thread embellishments are as bright as can be. I am going to look again at Superior Threads site again cuz I might have overlooked some of their options. I just love finding out about new things. Thanks for the giveaway!!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Thread is becoming more and more important to me. I used to think that it really didn't make a difference, but I am really learning that I was wrong (and I don't like to admit that I am wrong - ha ha!).

  103. I use Mettler or Gutermann, because they are most easily available here.I'm curious to try other threads, too.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Thanks for the giveaway. I used to use cheap thread but having visited the blog world I've learned to use better threads.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Masterpiece thread is wonderful, as are all of the Superior Threads I've ever tried. Thanks for the giveway!

    ReplyDelete
  106. I don't think this thread is available in Australia so I'd be happy to introduce it to my sewing buddies! Thanks for the giveaway !!

    ReplyDelete
  107. Thanks for the great giveaway! I prefer to use neutral colored thread. I hate thread that produces a lot of lint! I would love to try this thread.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I usually use Mettler as it is a good thread and readily available.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I love Auriful thread, and use Mettler and Gutermann as well. I haven't tried Superior yet. When I first started quilting I used cheap thread until I understood what a mess it made inside the machine. No more linty thread for me! Thanks for the giveaway! You'll make someone really happy!

    ReplyDelete
  110. I use mettler, but would love to try this thread.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I wanna come over and play!! Sounds like you are having too much fun dearie! Love that quilt!

    ReplyDelete
  112. I use what thread I can get as I live in a rural area if the project is not far planned ahead so I can order but I usually get whatever brand that is available but that is for quilting or all purpose but after reading several blogs and especially today, my eyes are wide open now!!!

I really should have known as I crochet and used to crewel and cross stitch and I use certain yarns and will not use just any yarn and quilting is no different.

    Thank you for the giveaway.

  113. I use coats and clarke 100% polyester white thread. There's probably tons better, but it's what I can afford. Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  114. I have always used cheap thread and thought it was fine...until i got my hands on the good stuff. It sure make a difference!

    ReplyDelete
  115. I use Mettler & Guttermann as that is what is available here. But I'd love to try some new thread to compare. Thanks for a chance to win! :)

    ReplyDelete
  116. I mostly piece with Bottom Line (by Superior) or Coats and Clark. I quilt only with Superior Threads. It's the best thread, from the best company. I originally bought a sampler package, a little of everything. I've never been happier with a puchase, a really great company. ;-> Toni Anne

  117. I have sewn mostly with a medium grey Coats & Clarks thread - the price & the thread have worked well for me. I'd love to try some Superior Thread. Thanks for the giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I absolutely love your quilt, red and white are my favorite! I've been using Guttermann thread for a while now. Recently I switched to Essential. I notice that it breaks less and is less linty than Guttermann.

  123. My local sewing machine store pushes Aurifil thread so I've been using it. I'd like to try the superior threads though and see how it does. I have a Bernina 820 with the big bobbins so it takes alot of thread. I would love to try one of these spools. Thanks for the chance.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I can't wait to see your lint test results. I use Coats and Clark cotton for machine piecing and quilting, and Guterman for hand sewing.

    ReplyDelete
  125. I have always used Guttermann as that is the cotton thread most readily available here in Canada. I would love to try Superior!

    ReplyDelete
  126. I love to some new thread! That would be so awesome, I've heard so much good things about this thread. Thank you for a giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  128. Mmmm, I would have picked the neutrals, too, to try it out. Thanks for the chance to join you in testing it out!

  129. So far I'm using mostly Gutermann thread, because it's most readily available in the stores near me. But I'd love to try Superior Threads. Thanks for the chance!

  132. I like your choice of thread. I don't sew with a lot of color threads. Stick with black, white, beige and grey. Usually I use Guttermann 100% cotton.

    ReplyDelete

  134. I currently use Guttermans but have been wanting to try some others. I have some trouble using this thread when I FMQ. I have been told that there are other threads that work better so I am going to be trying out some others this year.

    ReplyDelete
  137. I use aurifil usually for piecing. I'm interested in seeing the pix of your bobbin. i love thread - own all types & brands.

    ReplyDelete
  138. I've been very boring with my thread. I usually use Gutermann's white cotton and also the polyester. If I'm doing dark fabrics I will switch it up a bit so the white doesn't show through.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Cool that you picked such a useful thread-- very interested in how lintfree it is.....

    ReplyDelete
  140. I honestly don't use anything special for my quilting yet because I'm still too new to have made any decision on which thread I like best. I've been machine embroidering since getting my machine in latel 2003 and have always used Robison Anton for that although I have used NiteLite in my embroidery. It was such fun to use that for the extra 'glow'. I have another well known brand of thread sample of 4 spools to test but haven't tried those yet because I haven't made anything that I would want to use those colors on yet. Quilting thread is seriously lacking in my sewing room. I don't have much at all because I haven't made that decision. This is one of those things on my list of things to do.
