Forever Home . . .

This giveaway is now closed.

The other day I was looking through my fat quarter boxes, where the fat quarters are sorted and stored by color, and noticed I had a ton of these off toned fabrics.

Not lights, not darks, but somewhere in between.  Most of them are fat quarters that I pulled and discarded from kits.  There are probably over 125 different pieces of fabric here.

Enough to nicely fill a USPS large priority mail box.  I wouldn't call them ugly, but I don't see them getting in any quilt I'll ever make.  Do you have a need for them?

They are all packed and ready for a new home.  All the pieces were purchased from quilt shops.  They have been stored in a plastic container but have lived in a home with a dog, a hypoallergenic dog, but a dog none the less.

If you are interested in adding this fabric to your stash just leave a comment on this post, any comment will do.  If the USPS will mail to your address you're eligible.  If more than one person is interested in this giveaway I'll let random number generator select the winner.  You have until the end of day today, February 7th, to leave a comment and be eligible.

This won't be the last box of fabric looking for a new home, it's spring cleaning time at my house!

Thanks for your interest.

This giveaway is now closed.

  1. OOOH, Thelma, I'd LOVE to have them! I'm about to start teaching 3 young girls from our church to quilt and I'd love to give them some fabric to get started with!

  2. I would love this box of fabric! That's the smallest shelf in my stash. Seems I always buy color, then have nothing to put with it! Thanks!

  3. I've been doing operation "use up my stash" for several years now, and just a few weeks ago I realized it was essentially used up. I've started to miss the inspiration that comes from playing with different fabrics. I know you'll have a ton of responses, but I just wanted to toss my name in the hat, too. :)

  4. My name is Barb. I have never posted a comment before, but I do like to read your blog when I can. I am an elementary school teacher who loves to design and piece quilts on weekends and in the summer. I would be happy to give your fabric a home. They would definitely find a place in one of my future quilts.

  39. Oh my gosh Thelma, what a wonderful selection of fabrics,. My stash is a very haphazard gathering of fabrics because when I first started quilting five years ago, I didn't get any advice on how to properly build it up. So...I'm sorely lacking in several color ranges, lights and neutrals being one of them. So I would love be included in this giveaway. Thanks so very much for a chance to give these lovely's a new home...Hugs...
**it is so true, that one man's trash is another mans treasure...!!! Of course, in this case, one quilters uglys and another quilters beauties. *wink*

I am wanting to start the "pinnaple blossoom" quilt that your friend posted over on Sister's Choice Quilts Blog and all of the fat quarters will give me the start I need. Being a new quilter my "stash" is not one to brag about.
    Thanks!!

  47. Thelma..you truly are so generous. I think they would look lovely in a quilt with one other dominant splash of color...I am thinking blue...maybe the new indigo blue that Minnick and Simpson has out. I would have to see it in person to know for sure. But I can envision either a log cabin, or how about Star Blossoms by Cotton Way....oh or how about Milky Way by Fig Tree? I just got those patterns for Christmas...hmmmm you have my wheels turning. My daughter will soon be graduating from her Masters Program, and wouldn't one of those be a great gift...and it would be even more special with a story behind it. Kristy soardkg@fuse.net

  55. I would just love to have the box of love you are giving away! I just recently started quilting again after a 15 year break so "need" to build up a stash with something other than the fabrics for the quilts I'm working on. (And some other than the ones I have from the 90's. >grin,) I enjoy your blog so much, thanks for opportunity!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I would be so excited to give them their forever home :) I sure could use some "mediums" but usually if I can't work a fabric into a quilt I use it to make little pet quilts for my local animal shelter - So nothing goes to waste here! Thanks for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Thelma, you are so generous. Of course I would love to win such a wonderful stash. For some reason I always seem to think I have to have all new fabrics for a new project. Therefore, my stash is really projects so I would love to have a stash of neutrals to avoid so many new purchases especially since I am now on a fixed income now and the fabric budget doesn't seem to last all month. Thanks again for a chance at this.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I can imagine that there are a lot of us that would be so willing and thankful to take these pretties off your hands. My first thought for these is, they would play nicely with some of my mediums and darks that I intend to make mug rugs, placemats, and lap quilts for charity. Your work is beautiful, Thelma, and your blog creates lots of inspiration! One day when I have a bit more time in my day .... thank you.

  69. You are far too kind and generous...my stash is pretty full, but my guilds charity group would be able to make good use of these. We make quilts for the local battered women's group. So often they have had to flee for their lives in the middle of the night with nothing but the clothes on their backs. It helps these women and their children to know that somebody cares and gives them something warm and comforting to call their own. Patty E
