The day after

How was your 4th of July?  Ours was pretty much perfect, the weather was wonderful, a huge improvement over last year when we broke our all time temperature high with 101 degrees.  It was sunny, cool, and pleasant here.  I started the day with a walk, watched the local 4 mile race around town,  went to a movie, grilled, and watched fireworks.  I would say I made the most of my day, PLUS I even had time to sew a little.

Two more itsy bitsy teenie weenie basket blocks are done.  I've cut all my background fabric for the remaining 26 blocks and am thinking that maybe I'll make two every other day, instead of one every day.

I also made one more Not Jubilee Celebration block, yip, I think I like this block a lot better than the one in the pattern, I'll be sticking with it.

Diane sewed along with me while I was working on Coastal Lily and just finished up her top.  She added an outer border to all 4 sides which I think you'll like.  Diane selected bright colored fabric for her version which was a big change of pace for her, just like it was for me.

Enjoy your weekend,

  1. Hi Thelma,
Is this a Sister's Choice block that you are using for your newest project? I really like the looks of it!

    1. Technically the Sister's Choice block has a different color fabric in that center square on the outside rows of the block, I used the background fabric instead, so I would say it's a variation of the Sister's Choice bock. Thanks for asking!

  5. Another good looking quilt coming along and also like those little blocks you are doing in between. Great color for those blocks and fit right in with July.....also, for the new schnibble pattern. Will you be doing that one in red, white and blue too?

  6. Love your "Jubilee" blocks, I also thought it was a sister's choice block. Isn't it funny how we are drawn to "kits" then end up changing them up - I've recently taken a few kits apart also. Those tiny little baskets though are the most precious!! I would love to make up some of those!! I'm sad to say, my grandgirls are now back with Mommy, and we will be on our way back to the mountains (not sad about that part) but it's been raining, raining, and down pouring!! any ways, when I get back to the nest, I will stitch up a few those cuties!!
Didn't get here before the 4th but your decor looks super summery!!

  7. I'm working on the 2" basket blocks also and I think it's easier to make more than one per day also.
