I've put my Charley Harper project on hold while I wait for more fabric.
In the mean time I've started working on this pattern by Zen Chic, X's and O's.
The pattern quilt is made using the Zen Chic fabric Reel Time by Moda.
My favorite daughter is in a new apartment that has a 61 in wide white wall between two large sets of windows. We think that wall is the perfect place for a quilt.
My daughter has a gray couch, yellow and gray chair, and a black kitchen table with blue chairs. With those colors in mind I've been pulling fat quarters from my stash to make this quilt.
I make four blocks at a time. I think I'm going to go 4 blocks wide by 5 blocks long for a total of 20 blocks, with 12 done I'm over half way there. Each block is made up of the center square, 4 kite blocks, which are paper pieced, and 4 snowball blocks. I'm enjoying working on these blocks, the paper piecing is easy and makes such perfect points. I"m not sure about a couple of my fabric combos, particularly that black and orange block in the upper left had corner. Maybe I'll like it when I have more blocks.
Hope you have a great weekend!
Talk about an optical illusion - I was certain they were circles! Love this colour palette, it is lovely & fresh for Spring.
ReplyDeleteThought this was really interesting...also thought they were circles and love that this is much easier than they look...I love paper piecing. Great colors and that black is a popper!
ReplyDeleteI love the crisp look of these! Your daughter is very lucky!
ReplyDeleteyour daughter is going to LOVE this quilt! The color choices are perfect. I just received another bundle of Charlie Harper from the Fabric Hive!
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt and your blocks looks great!
ReplyDeleteI did not even notice the black/orange block till you mentioned it - it does not stand out, it blends with all the others and this is a beautiful quilt in the making. I am glad you are enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty blocks. Your daughter's apartment sounds very modern. This quilt will be perfect for her home.
ReplyDeleteThe black an orange block really is fine. You've got dark fabrics here and there in the other sets so it does work.
ReplyDeleteI have this pattern and after seeing yours I think I need to get busy! Colors are so zen along with the design. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteNow there is another pattern that I have to buy! You might like that block once you are done. The block in the lower left is kind of bold too. A few bolder blocks could look really nice once it's all done. Great work.
ReplyDeleteIs the pattern called X's and O's by zen Chics? Want the pattern and want to be sure of its name and origin. Thanks, PaulaK.
ReplyDeleteI just love this quilt Thelma !
ReplyDeletePerfect choice of fabrics.
Your daughter is going to love this quilt in her apartment
