I have some scraps and strips left over from my Route 44 project. (I'm an over-cutter!)
I also have some left over fat quarters and yardage.
The fabric is Saltbox Harvest by Deb Strain for Moda. I think there's enough here to make another full size quilt.
I do different things with my scraps, depending on the fabric. Any leftover French General fabric I keep in my French General scrap drawer. Any red leftover fabric goes in my red scrap drawer. If I think the fabric would work in a scrappy quilt at some point down the road I keep it too.
As much as I love Saltbox Harvest, I don't see me using it again in any other projects. No sense having it sitting around my house when it could be sitting in yours with the chance to make its way into another beautiful quilt.
Would you like this fabric? Just leave a comment here with your all time favorite vacation destination. I have a weakness for ocean vacations, I don't like to get in the ocean, but I can sit and watch it and listen to it for hours. I really love falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the waves hitting the beach.
To be eligible, leave a comment by 12 am CST Thursday, August 4, I'll announce the winner on Friday.
Note: Having trouble leaving comments on blogger, an email to cupcakesndaisies@gmail.com works too.
For me the mountains call. I love walking in the woods, sitting by clear cool streams and enjoying the amazing views. Asheville, NC is my all time favorite vacation destination.
ReplyDeleteLove the Saltbox Harvest fabric. Reminds me of the mountains in the fall.
Hi - I love going to the redwood forests. Its quite humbling, actually. Thanks for offering your left over scraps - I would love to make a project with them
ReplyDeleteI love the ocean -- beaches or rocky cliffs, it doesn't matter to me!! I love New England, too. Bar Harbor, Maine (with a side trip to the wonderful quilt places in New Hampshire and Vermont!! :-D)!
ReplyDeleteWonderful give-away! Thanks so much!
Blessings,
Mary Lou
I love going to Alaska. Although it is quite a trek from Maryland to get there, I will go anytime I have the opportunity. The scenery if breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite all time vacation place is Holden Beach, NC. My dad and stepmom rent a beach house (duplex) and his 5 children come with their spouses and kids from 12 to 28. It's a week of sand, stories and joy.
ReplyDeleteall time favorite vacation location...hmmmm well for me it would be the rocky mountains in Canada. I spent a year there and loved it. However for the family....it would be close to were we live here in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada...Peggy's Cove. My girls love going there.

How about a cruise? You'll unpack ONCE, and then you can enjoy looking at the ocean! (and the food, pools, spa, trivia, bingo and nightly theater shows!) Very relaxing! Thanks for offering your left over scraps - I would love to make a project with them!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite vacation was a few years ago when we went to a little spot in North Dakota called Medora. Very quaint, very quiet and very beautiful. Thanks for the opportunity of this giveaway, I have some fat quarters of this line but not a lot to go with it.
ReplyDeleteMarsha
My favorite vacation desitination is South Carolina. We went last year with my sister, her family, my parents and all five of us. There were 12 in all and had a wonderful time. I think I want to retire there someday!! Saltbox Harvest is one of my very favorite lines of fabric. I have a few pieces and have been looking to add to so I can make a quilt for my bed. Thanks so much for the opportunity.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite vacation spot is Annapolis Maryland. I just adore that town. We usually stay at lovely bed and breakfast nor far from the water.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of ocean vacations... my boyfriend and I recently took a short trip to Newport, RI. Fantastic mansions (including a Vanderbilt) right on the coastline. The local tourism promoters worked together to get a 2+ mile long walking path alone the coast going right through the backyards of the beautiful old homes. Of course it's a rocky shore, not sandy, but it was terrific. Nova Scotia is on my vacation to-do list!
ReplyDeleteWe recently spent a week in StMartin. Over the top cool!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is Northern Michigan. We go every summer. When the temperatures in our home town are in the 90's, we enjoy the 70's up-north. Love the relaxed atmosphere, the cool fresh water of Lake Michigan and the gorgeous sunsets there. Find a new quilt shop every once in a while, too. = )
ReplyDeleteNot an ocean, but still - I love the Aegean, and my best holidays were spent on the Agean islands. Ady
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win your cast-offs! I'd use them for another attempt at a Schnibble. And on vacation, please meet me at Cape May, New Jersey.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite vacation destination is the family beach cabin on Puget Sound in Washington state. No, you don't get turquoise water and hot sunny days (well, maybe once in awhile) but it is beautiful. There are the shared memories of having spent summers there since I was a bitty baby, times spent with cousins and my Nana. I don't have any Salt Box fabric but would love love love to have some! Thank you for the chance to win some :D
ReplyDeleteMy favorite vacation is the beach also! Last trip we took to Santa Rosa Florida was the best. The salt box fabric is so pretty- thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteThe East Coast is a favorite!! Thanks for the chance!! Love these fabrics!
ReplyDeleteThe coast of Maine is quiet and peaceful with beautiful views. Our time in Rome was priceless and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I am determined that someday I will get to Hawaii!
ReplyDeleteLet's see...favorite spot for relaxation and family time...Cape May, New Jersey. Favorite all time vacation place for doing/seeing - Ireland - hands down! Thanks for the opportunity. Piece.....
ReplyDeletehmmm... favorite vacation destination would be Marin County, CA as that's where DS/DDIL live... and I miss 'em. Their move there a few years ago opened the way to explore the Bay area. Just a beautiful part of our country... the beaches, parks, redwoods, shopping at the Tyler Florence Shop in Mill Valley. :-)
ReplyDeleteWith all the summer heat here in the desert southwest, I am soooo ready for fall. Those Saltbox Harvest leftovers would sure help my mood. Thanks for the chance! ...Karen
Oh wow, what a giveaway Thelma!! There are a lot of scraps there! Vacation...one word...Hawaii.
ReplyDeleteI have to say Paris. I can look at the Eiffel Tower all day - it's just amazing to me! Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice selection of scraps! When I'm done with a project the pieces are generally too small to use for much else. My favorite vacation destination isn't really one place, but a cruise. You get to sail form place to place in comfort and the food is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love to stay at my house. I live in a very small and isolated rural village, in heart of France and love to be here. XO
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this fabric line and already have two layer cakes and a bit of yardage that would love to join up with your scraps if I am the lucky winner.
ReplyDeleteAs to my favorite vacation spot, I tend to enjoy all of my vacation destinations for different reasons, but one of the most memorable was a trip to the Bahamas where I got to swim with dolphins. Definitely one of my top five life experiences so far!
My former favorite vacation spot, Gulf Shores, AL. That was before my son moved to California. Now it would be Monterey Bay, CA. It is cold there, but beautiful and the company is great!
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway, thanks for the opportunity!
I'd love a chance to win your leftovers! We took our first cruise a few years ago, and it was to Alaska! What an amazing place, with such a pure, serene and untouched feeling...and the scenery is just breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteMy all time favorite destination is Italy and I'm fortunate enough to be going there in three days!! For the US, I LOVE watching the sunset on a beach near San Diego. I don't have any of the Saltbox line, except for a 9 yard piece to use as a backing.....I'd love to win your scraps to make the top :)
ReplyDeleteHi Thelma,I have to say that our favorite vacation spot has always been Moab, Utah and all the National and State Parks in the area, Zion, Bryce, Canyonlands, Arches and Dead Horse Point and the gorgeous drive through the Escalante Staircase Monument. No matter where we go when we travel, when we get home, we always agree that we love Utah's red rock country more than any we have seen. Though we did have a wonderful vacation last year for 10 day at Circle Z Ranch in Patagonia, Arizona and loved it so much we never left the ranch the entire 10 days and I cried when we left...so, though we visit Moab every year, there are plans in the making for another visit to the Ranch next year...it was amazing!!! Thanks for a chance to win some beautiful quilting treasure. Hugs!!!
ReplyDeleteJust got back from a wonderful week in Cozumel, right on the ocean, and a pool too. The most relaxing vacation I've had in years. I didn't want to come home to my usual rat race.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win these treats and make a quilt from your scraps!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to go is Newfoundland...if you like water, you HAVE to go there! Gros Morne park is my favorite place on the planet so far! The hiking is spectacular and my daughter went kayaking with the whales. A vacation of a lifetime!
I love Saltbox and don't have ANY!! Would love to make a fall quilt!! My favourite beach vacation was to Long Beach on Vancouver Island...but Pismo Beach, California was great too...and then there is the Oregon Coast...spectacular!! Ah geeze any beach is wonderful when you come right down to it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win this lovely GA!
Paulette
Kona Village in Hawaii which isn't there anymore. It was a wonderful place and my memories are forever. Thank you for the opportunity to win your scraps and someone's treasures.
ReplyDeleteMary
Lovely fabrics in beautiful colors. Of course I would be happy to have some of it! Hugs Ullis in Sweden
ReplyDeleteThe Crystal Pier in San Diego is my all time favorite vacation spot. So peaceful.
ReplyDeleteWould love the scraps....as if I don't have enough of my own! LOL

Hi Thelma - thanks for offering up your scraps and leftover yardage. Such a nice thing to do.
ReplyDeleteMy most recent favorite vacation spot was in Sitka, Alaska on a cruise that hubby and I took a couple of years ago. We sailed into the harbor at sunrise and it was un-believeably beautiful. Back in my teens I took a vacation with my family to Switzerland and it was awesome, especially when we traveled the back roads and were in the countryside. Wow!

FAVORITE SPOT>THE BEACHES OF ST.AUGUSTINE,FL.
ReplyDeleteNEAT FABRICS!
THANKS FOR SHARING!
I'D LOVE THESE!

For our first ever and only family vacation, we took our four kids to Orlando. On Day 5 we ventured off to Cocoa Beach to see the ocean. We live in rural Saskatchewan, thousands of miles from the beach in each direction so seeing the ocean was a huge thing for our kids. Florida last year was unseasonably cold. On the day we visited Cocoa Beach it was 62 degrees...not very good beach weather. With the exception of a man in a full body wet suit, no one else was in the water...that is, except our Crazy Canadian kids! They spent two hours in the water and loved every minute of it. Mom and dad stayed on the shore. Thanks for a great, great blog. Love Carrie, too.
ReplyDeleteWould love to go back to Bar Harbor, Maine. The ocean, the lobster, the shops; a great little town. A little SaltBox Harvest would be wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLast year I bought a small pack of these fabrics from my LQS and I have yet to break them open because I'm afraid there isn't enough there. This would be perfect to help make a plan and the scrappier the better!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to go with a water destination. We have found the Manly beach in Australia to be our favorite. Beautiful white sand and less people. That was our kind of beach. Plus shopping!
Thank you for another opportunity to win.
Islands are my favorite places to go, we went to Puerto Rico and I fell in love with it, I would move there tomorrow. However, Maui was just as amazing. I could live on one island for 6 months and the other for the remaining 6 months. What do you think?? :D
ReplyDeleteNow that I live in the NW the moutains and the beach are my favorite places after living in "flat" (Florida) for way too many years. Thanks for the give away.
ReplyDeleteOgunquit (sp?), Maine. Had a room on the rocks overlooking the ocean. I woke early to be out and watch the sunrise and listen to the crashing waves. Heaven.
ReplyDeleteOh, Salt Box Harvest! Those aren't scraps, they are little bits of treasure!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite vacation destination of all time is Scotland.
Something closer to home? Our family enjoyed going to Niagra Falls (You have to turn a blind eye to the hype on the American side of the border). We spent time on both the NY and Canadian side. We also traveled around the whole Finger Lakes region. So beautiful.
We recently returned from the mountains in Montana. We've done that two years in a row and love it. What I REALLY love are scraps!!! I'm working on a full sized bed quilt using scraps as leaders and enders.
ReplyDeleteWow, Thelma, what a nice give-away. Thanks for the chance to win. Our most relaxing vacation recently was a week in Minneapolis to visit my sister. We'd not been there before and that week in September was gorgeous. It was fun to explore a new city. Money not an object? I'd love to visit France again more thoroughly and see St. Petersburg.
ReplyDeleteChristine Thomas, shoppernana@gmail.com
I would love to win some Saltbox Harvest! A new fall quilt would be great. There are a lot of vacaations I dream about but haven't been to, but one that I've experienced that was wonderful was flying into Seattle and driving down the coast into Oregon, then going over to the big outdoor quilt show in Sisters, then back up through the country to Seattle. Beautiful country and lots of variety. Ocean, mountains with snow, high desert, big cities, great small towns and lots of quilt shops!

I'm an ocean person but my husband hates the ocean. He prefers the mountains, especially Mt. Rainier, here in beautiful Washington state.
ReplyDeleteToo funny, I'm currently making Route 44 using saltbox harvest but also adding a bunch of other fabrics too.
I love this fabric line and would be so happy to play with these scraps! Thanks for the chance :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to my all-time favorite yet but my next big one is going to be Sienna Italy. And thanks for the chance to win all that fabric - and I won't even have to cut it!
ReplyDeleteMaine, Maine, Maine! Or Scotland, which is like an entire country of Maine! :)
ReplyDeleteI am so with you on the Beach vacation with no trips into the water. My favorite location is La Fonda in Mexico. It is built right on the side of a cliff overlooking the beach.
ReplyDeleteAnyplace that's by the ocean, or on the ocean, like a cruise ship! Favorite spot over all is Destin,FL, relatively easy to get to, and a great place to visit in the off season. I can hear the ocean calling my name.
ReplyDeleteSince I live in the desert now, my dream vacation is any place green!
ReplyDeleteI love going to Williamsburg, but I haven't been in a number of years. It is fun to step back in time and imagine what it was like during that time period.
ReplyDeleteMaking scrap quilts are so much fun so I would love to win your Saltbox Harvest scraps. They would make a wonderful Fall quilt. Thanks for such a nice giveaway!
As a Brit, I love holidays in the USA. We've just come back from a month touring California, whicch was great. But them, I love France and Italy too - so if absolutely forced to pick one place, it would be Venice. Beautiful, atmospheric, great food, wonderful buildings and art - and even a beach.
ReplyDeleteAshtona@hotmail.com
My favourite vacation(s) was Italy - specifically Venice and Florence. We were there with just two little ones and it was truly wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI have fabric set aside for a 'Route 44' quilt also.
I love to vacation at Moosehead Lake in Maine. So peaceful and relaxing to be on the lake with the beautiful mountains in the background.
ReplyDeleteOh I am keeping my fingers crossed Thelma! I have a charm pack of Salt Box harvest and a love of anything autumn! I would so love to make a quilt like yours. I haven't been to what I think will be my favorite destination for a vacation~ I want to go to Maine in the fall and follow the mountains down and see all the foliage. But since I haven't had the chance to do that I will say my favorite spot has been Hawaii. Love those islands! Thanks for the chance! Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteAnother quilter's treasure, indeed! I'd LOVE to win your scraps! Favorite vacation destination, hmm, I gotta agree, the beach! Preferably Hawaii or the Caribbean. Blue sky, blue ocean, the sound of the waves...geez, I'm picturing one of those beer commercials right now...I just want the ocean, not the beer!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this fabric. My favorite vacation destination was a cruise that we took to the Caribbean with stops at St. Croix and St. Thomas. The water is just so clear and blue and beautiful. Thanks for the giveaway.

ReplyDeleteWell, I tend to go on quilt retreats as vacation, lol. A friend and I are heading to Wisconsin two weeks from today, to go on retreat, I am looking forward to the trip! Love your blog! Helen
ReplyDeleteMy favorite would have to be Castle Pook, Ireland. My family has a close friend there. He and his wife built their house from upcycled materials, and they keep a sweet little homestead a few miles from the actual Castle Pook.
ReplyDeleteSeems like a perfect place to run away, relax and sew!
Believe it or not my favorite vacation place is only 30 minutes from my house. It is a Lake near us and we go there for a week every summer. It's magic.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite vacation spot is Holmes County, Ohio, Amish Country. Lots of quilt fabric shops. Love Saltbox Harvest. Thanks for the chance at your giveaway.

I really like Grand Cayman. It's been a long time since I've been there, but the beach is wonderful, and you can snorkel or scuba dive from the shore, without having to go far out to sea on a boat. They have beautiful scuba diving areas!

ReplyDeleteHi Thelma,
ReplyDeleteEarlier I sent you an e-mail, as I was having
trouble sending my comment. This is a test to see if I have fixed my problem.
I love, love, love Long Beach, WA - Cape Disappointment has a wonderful beach to just relax on. Thanks for the opportunity to win, I would love to use this in a Fall quilt with maybe a maple leaf pattern using my families thoughts from Thanksgiving 2010 written on muslin. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful treat you have for all of us! My favorite vacation would be way back when I was 8 we drove all the way from Regina, Saskatchewan down to Disneyland.I've been on a lot of trips since then but i will never have the awe of walking into my childhood dreams come true.

Leona
My favorite vacation spot is North Myrtle Beach. We went there often when our children were in school. Now they are all grown up but we have so many fond memories of time spent together there. I guess it is not so much the place as the people you are with.
ReplyDeleteAudrey

I live in the mountains of NC, so I tend to take them for granted. We took a vacation to California this year , my first time to see the Pacific Ocean. It was beautiful. Loved watching the sun set from Laguna Beach. Would love to make something fro your scraps.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous fabric collection. It would make a perfect quilt for my parents.
ReplyDeleteDeb S.
Dorado and San Juan, Puerto Rico was my favorite vacation. Can't wait to get back to the beautiful beaches.
ReplyDeleteI love the ocean, and I don't like a lot of tourist shops cluttering up the atmosphere. I really enjoyed Ambergris Caye off the coast of Belize. Not much there but Ocean and relaxation.
ReplyDeleteSaltbox!! Come down here to the Destin area beaches on the western panhandle of Florida!! WHITE sand soft as silk that can squeak under your feet and DOESN'T burn your feet at all. CLEAR water that has the prettiest blues and greens. In the mornings you can see turtles, rays, other fishies cruising along the shallows. And you can find touristy areas and much more quiet areas, so there's something for both types of folks. It's a boring beach for surfers, though. ;D
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful scraps! I think anywhere near a body of water would be wonderful to me - I just came back from Italy, so I will say Italy. The beaches are rocky, but there are so many beautiful views of the Bay of Naples from the cliffsides.
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, my favorite vacation destination is my mother's house in small town Minnesota! It is where I grew up, and I miss the wide open spaces with farms dotting the countryside, the no-sound-of-traffic quiet, the constant wind...
ReplyDeleteYOur Route 44 is beautiful hanging in the prime spot of the house Thelma! Nice little giveaway for somebody... can't wait to see who wins the golden stash!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your generosity! I would love to win.

ReplyDelete(And I love Salt Box Harvest, too!)
My favorite vacation spot is...my home! We own a family fishing resort in northern MN and being on the lake or in the pool is a dream...I get to live where all my guests vacation...what a blessing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to have that beautiful fabric!
I am with you about the sound of the ocean. I love to go back to English Bay, Vancouver, BC whenever I get the chance. Thank you for offering this lovely give away, hope I am lucky and win.
ReplyDeleteCan't beat the Oregon coast for an awesome vacation. We usually camp, so of course the weather would have to be perfect! I would LOVE to win your leftover fabric.
ReplyDeleteDuluth, Minn. is the most beautiful place. Especially in the fall when the trees are changing color. Also there is a really neat quilt shop right on the bank of the lake.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is Disney World. Kind of cliche, I know, but it is just so much fun, and I feel like a kid again!
ReplyDelete
