Thanks to all 104 folks who stopped by and for all your kind words regarding my finish in the Chicago Marathon. I've been surprised how great I've felt all week, I've felt happy and energetic. The training and stress of the whole experience was much greater than I realized, I've experienced first hand that saying, "felt like a weight has been lifted", I feel mentally and physically lighter!
While we all share our love of quilting, we are varied in our lives and goals, I loved reading about all of them and am inspired by you. I've always said I would never quilt one of my tops, but I didn't get out of bed and decide to run 26.2 miles all at once, it took me a year of training. That's the attitude I need for quilting, not to expect to sit down at my machine and start quilting, but to work up to it.
Someone's goal of starting to set goals put a smile on my face! I need a goal to set less goals! Like someone else said, how about a goal to lighten up and enjoy life. I agree, how about it!
We all do agree on something else . . . .
this book is awesome and a wonderful addition to your quilting library. A real go to book for meeting your current quilting need, whim, or desire.
And the winner is . . . . . . #53 - James-Linda who has a goal of finishing a table runner for her daughter for Christmas. Good Luck with that!
Congrats to the winners...both James-Linda and to you...it seems like you've won much more from your experience...there's nothing you can't do, including quilting your tops...go girl!
ReplyDeleteThelma,
ReplyDeleteI am wondering if you are going to keep your marathon medal or donate it like your Disney medals. Something else, in the original picture of the door county quilt, one basket had the handle half square triangles cross ways while all of the other hst were up and down. Is that part of the pattern?
Congratulations to your winner!
ReplyDeleteTracey,
ReplyDeleteSo far I've not decided if I'm going to donate my medal to the same organization that got my Disney medals. I'm wondering if maybe I would prefer to give it to someone I know as inspiration or just keep it for myself. My Disney medals were cute but they didn't mean nearly as much to me as my marathon medal, right now it would be hard to give it away to someone I didn't know. I may have a different perspective a few months from now.
Really, one of the Door County Cherry Baskets has different handles? I hadn't noticed!! The pattern directions call for mixing and matching the black and brown fabrics but only has directions for one basket style. I'm making mine all the same. I"ll have to go back and look at my pattern for the one basket!
Congratulations on running the marathon. What a monumental achievement. I am not surprised, however. You are very good at setting goals and completing them. I think you should keep the medal as an inspiration to keep challenging yourself.
