Hey, thanks for all the great feedback on my new blog look! I was a little worried when I showed my new look to my husband and he said, " I liked the old design better". But when I shared that with a friend she mentioned that most husbands don't like change, and how we woman folk like to move the furniture just for fun (that's so me!) but men don't usually take to the new look right off. I'm also taking the comments that were something like, "that sure is red" as a good thing....that's what you meant right? It's sort of like those comments "did you get a new hair cut" followed by nothing.
My Baby's Swoon or Baby Swoon as she is called is done. I enjoyed every minute of making this project. This block is amazing and has unlimited potential. It works for any style of fabric and for any level of sewing. If you are a beginner quilter and have been scared to tackle a large bed size quilt, look no further. I'm keeping this pattern in the back of my mind, I think an itsy bitsy baby swoon, one where the blocks are 8 inches would be interesting to try.
So here's where we left off . .
Block 1, then it was on to . . .
Block 2, then . . .
Block 4!
Then I attached them all
and thought they looked so pretty, but wanted to use just a little more of that Nine Dots fabric . . .
so I added a thin border.
I don't use white background fabric near enough in my projects! For some reason I tend to use off whites or ivories, but I really love the crispness that the white background fabric adds to this project.
Baby Swoon is Lifetime Quilt Number 76.
She finished at 41" x 41" and has approximately 371 pieces.
The fabric is Nine Dots by Carrie Nelson of Miss Rosie's Quilt Company for Henry Glass.
And the pattern is Swoon by Camille Roskelley for Thimble Blossoms.
Thelma I love it...oh and I think an 8" block would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love your Swoon blocks!
ReplyDeleteGreat fabrics!
I still haven't made up my pattern yet, but I plan some "baby" Swoon blocks too.
I think you did an amazing job selecting the colors to use and it is such a pretty, colorful quilt. I know your baby will love her baby swoon.
ReplyDeleteWhat old design did he like better? Birdseye? Your Swoon is gorgeous! LIke you, I need to use more white.
ReplyDeleteI love this pattern. I recently bought it along with Ruby fabric. But have to wait until I get all my Christmas quilts finished!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I can't wait to start my Swoon! And, I like your new blog design! o:)
ReplyDeleteOh so pretty! Isn't it a great pattern? I just got mine back from the quilter - just need to bind. Love your!
ReplyDeleteOOOOH! You knocked this one right outta the park. The pieced border definitely sets it all off! Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThelma, your Swoon is gorgeous! I love all the blocks, but oh my gosh how that gray and red block speaks to me. (The Nine Dots fabric line is so beautiful that I'm suffering from a serious case of ("Must Have"). I'm excited about your idea of a Swoon with smaller blocks and I can't wait to see what you 'cook' up. You seem to view patterns the same way I do. Like a new recipe, I use it simply as a starting point, then I add or take away ingredients and spices until it is just the way I like it. Same with a quilt pattern...I rarely work on a new one, without adding my own spices and ingredients to make it 'taste' just right for me. BUT without all our wonderful designers, I wouldn't so many great places to begin. Hugs...
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, Thelma!
ReplyDeleteLove your Swoon! this is such a fun pattern, isn't it? I did some smaller size Halloween Swoon blocks & I'm still working on larger Kaffee ones and I have another Swoon in the planning stages. This block is like eating chips - you can't do just one!
ReplyDeletePretty! I'm like you with backgrounds - just starting to use white rather than off white. I love the way this looks in Carrie's fabrics.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! Swoon is on my someday list...
ReplyDeleteI love the new look, especially the incorporation of the red and white tribute quilt! Everything here is so crisp and clean and new!
I love your quilt! And I love the fact that you made only 4 blocks and it looks so gorgeous...thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love your Baby Swoon quilt! It turned out so pretty. I need that pattern!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful Thelma!
ReplyDeleteI've loved every Swoon that I have seen. They are all so pretty. Maybe because putting two contrasting fabrics is fairly easy and then putting different blocks together isn't so scary and then viola! there they are! Lovely, scrappy-looking quilts. I love AlL the mixes.
ReplyDeleteI love the new look of the blog. The red is beautiful.
wow that turned out to be very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely adore your quilt! The points are perfect and the colors make a nice crisp clean look.
ReplyDeleteI love your baby swoon and the fabric choice is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLove the Swoon...must look for that pattern!
ReplyDeleteAnd I enjoyed reading about how people react to change :)
Totally swoon-worthy! It's darling! (from a fellow swoon-lover! Just finished my quilt last week.)
