Evening Bloom, Block Nine . . .

Here's the last block for Evening Bloom.

Block Number 9.

Technically it's Block Number 3, but it was so similar to Block Number 1 I thought it would look better in a different spot so I swapped it.  I'm happy to report that my technique and speed increased with every block.  I loved stitching these blocks so much I wish I had 9 more to do.  Although that would take a very big bed, these blocks are huge, each block finishes at 24 inches.

I'm spending quite a bit of  my free time working on my dresden border blocks for Evening Bloom, but I'm also plotting my next project.

I'm wanting something fun and easy.

I've had these Twister templates for ages and think it's time I played around with them some.

  1. Your block is so pretty and the fabric choices so perfect. I now have two twister rulers and I have yet to use them. Will look forward to being inspired by you!

  6. As I said before I LOVE this quilt. I drool on the pictures you post. Did you use a fabric line for the quilt or is it just out of your stash? I would appreciate knowing what fabrics you used.

    Thanks

  8. I've been so afraid to do a tessellating pattern since my one experience that nearly made me insane! I've seen a number of these Little Twister quilts and they are so darn cute!
I am venturing back into applique with my Dresden Plate blocks. Hope to do a few of them while on vacation next week.

  9. I was inspired to go and buy the book for this quilt. It helped that it was also half price at my local QS who was liquidating their stock! I think the French General fabrics work great for this one too, and hope to use my scraps from several of their collections to do it eventually. I agree with the other commenter that you perfectly chose that fussy cut for the center petal. Makes a huge impact! All the best, Jennifer

  10. Woohoo on your block and on doing something with the twister template! I ended up winning one and have yet to make something, although there are tons of cute things out there. Would love to see how you "Thelmasize" it :)

  12. The Lil' Twister is fun and easy. There are lots of cute designs for it. One of the patterns I made with mine is a Christmas tree. I then used the little squares that are left after cutting to make a miniature replica using the Itty Bitty Pinwheel template. It finished at 15x18 with 238 tiny blocks. I would never have tried something that small without the template!

  13. Thelma, your Evening Bloom blocks are so gorgeous! Your applique work is so beautiful. I want so badly to do needle turn applique and have been trying, but finally accepted that I just don't have the ability and must use and alternative method. So I will be using machine applique for any of those types of projects i choose to make. I can deal with that! Hugs...
