9 Big Red Stars?

Check!

Here's the center of my Nantucket top.  I'm showing you my whole design wall so you get a feel for the size of those stars, they're huge!

I'm adding some of the plaids/wovens from the Midwinter Reds collection and am not going totally scrappy like the pattern.  I can hardly wait to see how these big star blocks look surrounded by 9 patches.

Here's a little refresher of the original pattern.

Darlene at Quilting Daze, Vicky at LA Quilter, Sue at Cozy Little Quilts, and Jennifer at Seams Crazy are sewing along with us. Their blogs are in my blog list so be on the lookout for their Nantucket updates as well as the ones from Nicole/Sisters Choice, Lisa/Stashmaster and Sinta/ Pink Pincushion.

We're just getting started, so feel to join the Nantucket sew along too, the more the merrier!

  1. I made this quilt a few years ago when the pattern first came out. I love it because it's a good quilt for summer as well as at Christmastime.

  2. I pulled out the woven bundle, too, but decided to save it for an applique pattern I have in mind. (Love needle turning wovens!) Your stars look fab!!

  5. I may lag behind because I have to work on Baby Audrey's nursery. I won't lag very far behind though. :-)

    Your star blocks are wonderful.

  11. Those are big stars - aren't they? I was surprised. I won't be able to fit all 9 on my design wall, unless I pin them in place to keep 3 of them from dropping off the side. I have my pieces cut out and two stars made so far. The colors are so comforting, I want to crawl under this quilt already!

  12. Maybe the 24 tiny stars I am making would fit inside one of your stars!?? Too cute!
