Happy 2020! I'm so happy to be back blogging.
Last summer I started having trouble updating my blog. Things limped along until November when I was finally unable to do anything at all with my blog. I thought this would be a good time to just stop blogging, so many quilters have. But then, on a whim around the first of the year, I looked back on the quilts I made during the last decade, and enjoyed reliving all the ups and downs of each finish and realized I enjoyed documenting my quilting journey, even if I was the only one reading it. So I hired some professionals who fixed the behind the scenes issues and I sprung for a facelift while they were at it.
Everything seems to be working great now, and I have some finishes to catch up on, but I thought I would kick off my first post of 2020 with my latest finish.
This is Lifetime Quilt Number 274
I've named it Sweet and Swell Mr. Snowman.
It finished at 53" x 53"
The fabric is Sweet Christmas and Swell Christmas by Urban Chiks for Moda
It has approximately 770 pieces.
I did't really need another Christmas pillow so I ordered more snowman and green stripe fabric.
And made this.
It took me a couple days of looking at my design wall before I decided to add the geese and the outer border. I had a limited amount of Swell and Sweet fabric, scraps really, to work with, but in the end I think that forced me to create a simpler top, which I'm really happy with.
I don't really have many winter themed quilts, I look forward to having this one hanging in my sewing room next January.
And finally, I have always used Designer Blogs for my blog needs, I am not very savvy when it comes to the workings of my blog, if you're in the need for some blog work I highly recommend them. There is a link to their website at the bottom of my blog. This is not a paid endorsement.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope this is the first of many more blog posts this year.

What a great kick-off to 2020 on your updated blog and LOVE this top! I just love how you finished this off and geese are perfect for this,... not to much , not to little , just right! Glad you are back blogging as I so enjoy reading about your work and have to say I am one of those who might get lots of great ideas from you Thelma and thanks for all your help in all!

I love the blogs you follow so I have still visited your blog daily to get to their sites. Was so pleased today to find your posting and learn that you will be back blogging. I've kept with your projects on Instagram, but not the same... Welcome back!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat to have you back. As usual, your quilt is stunning!
ReplyDeleteOh so happy you are back! I too love your blog list. I enjoy your blog for many reasons. You are such an inspiration with your creativity and accomplishments. In a busy life it is time I take to feel like I am still in touch with a quilting community. Every morning I sit with my coffee and see what is going on. I think it is wonderful that you have this digital scrapbook to look back on of all your work. I would not be surprised if it wasn't turned into a book someday. You are quite accomplished. You and Sisters Choice Quilts blog keep me on my toes wanting to get things done. I know blogs take a lot of time and I am one who is grateful.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I am not much of a commenter on blogs and I just realized google has my Southland Woods Lane as ID. My name is Roseanna Jakubowski
ReplyDeleteHave always enjoyed all that you share, Thelma. So glad you are back! Your quilts are always beautiful.

I noticed your header changed earlier in the week. My high hopes were rewarded today with your blog, back in order, strong and sturdy. And, with a beautiful quilt. The details you added made it delicious. Sorry you had blogging difficulties, but welcome back. Stephani in N. TX.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Thelma!! What a beautiful quilt of Carolina Lilies in the update to your banner. Do you have a post about that quilt? The comments above outline my sentiments, also. Your blog has been part of my morning routine for many years and I'm glad to see this new quilt in this morning's post. Clara
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carolina Lily is one of my top 10 favorites. If you go to my second 100 quilts tab look for Coastal Lily, it's #105 and click on link for more detail. Or search Coastal Lily on the "Search this Blog" option. There are several posts that talk about that quilt.
DeleteThank you for coming back! I need that green stripe. It's perfect for Christmas quilts. Do you happen to remember what it is? I wouldn't know if you asked me because I never remember those things!
ReplyDeleteThat green stripe is what caught my eye with that whole project, it's from the Sweet Christmas collection by Urban Chiks for Moda. You can still find some online and probably in shops.
