Finishing the year with a finish

I finished a quilt!

This was a fun project, great pattern, Christmas themed stitching during the month of December, and allowed me to continue my current obsession with trees, but even with all those pluses it still took every ounce of concentration and focus that I could manage to get it done.  I don't think I ever sat down for longer than 30 minutes anytime I was in my sewing room. But now it is done and I'll have a new Christmas quilt to enjoy next year.

This is Lifetime Quilt Number 294
The pattern is Wooded Whimsy by Coriander Quilts by Corey Yoder
The fabric is a combo of Merriment and  Merrily by Gingiber for Moda
It finished at 65" x 65"
It has approximately 1,029 pieces.

This is the pattern.

The pattern has 6 rows.  You may have noticed my version has 5.  Hello, my name is Thelma and I'm addicted to square quilts.

I have no quilt plans for 2021,  no long lists of quilts to make, I've never been so lost in the 15 years I've been quilting.  I'm thinking  I'll start off the year with a good sewing room reorg.  Maybe I'll look through all my books and patterns and come up with that list and a plan.  It's been ages since I've participated in a sew along, maybe some camaraderie is what I need.  Whatever it takes I am determined to make 2021 better.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, I know my posts have been infrequent, I'm hoping for more enthusiasm for everything in my life in  2021.

  1. love your happy little trees, Thelma!!!

you've been a much better blogger than i have - i'm blaming my slacktivity on the computer's fan

  2. Thank you for sharing the photo. I do like the pattern. I think I’ll put it on my list to make.
    Happy new year to you.

  3. It's a beautiful quilt. As far as 2021 goes, you will find your inspiration. A few years ago I all but stopped quilting and went off in search of other things. I spent a year acrylic and watercolor painting, then painting mixed with embroidery, then embroidery and applique, and voila! I'm now back quilting and more inspired than ever. All this to say...let your path lead you where it wants to go. If you love quilting, as I do, you'll be back and better for having followed your inspirations around a bit.

  4. I love this new quilt. Your quilts are beautiful and an inspiration to many of us. when I clean my sewing room, I pull out patterns that I love and have not made. Then I put them in a basket where I can take them out and consider them several times. But you already know are quilter extraordinaire! Maybe think about new recipes or plants for the garden will be a welcome distraction. Take heart. Hopefully by summer we will be chatting with neighbors and window shopping.

  5. Love this quilt, Thelma! Happy New Year! I too am ready for a fresh start. Cheers!

  6. Beautiful, as usual, Thelma. Your impeccable piecing and pressing always amazes me! Two days ago I went through my books, trying to find my opening 2021 quilt, but instead I decided that I could chuck half of my pattern books. I didn't actually throw them away, but I'm in the same boat as you for motivation. Maybe looking through my printed patterns will spark something?? Happy New Year and take care.

  7. Beautiful quilt! It is on my list to do--someday.

  8. I love your tree quilts lately! The Tree of Life blocks were exquisite. I must look into getting this pattern, it is adorable. I am sorry you have had the quilting blahs this year, but it is totally understandable. This past year I found sew alongs to be a great distraction and fun to work on. I'm always up for a new sew along! Best wishes for a better 2021.

  9. I love it and am looking forward to buy that great pattern. Like you I love trees and all my quilts are square ones.
I am still so admirative of your works. I wish you the best for the coming year. Marie

  10. This is a gorgeous quilt... I love it!
I am like you... no plan, no goals, just wandering around in the sewing room, sometimes productive, but mostly not!
    Cheers to a better 2021!

  11. I love this pattern. I am going to keep it in mind for next year. I do miss your more frequent blogging of the past, but as long as I hear from you every now and then I’m okay! Happy New Year, Thelma.

  12. Your trees are lovely! I hear you on the distraction pulling you from the sewing room. My own lack of focus or urge to sew has kind of shocked me...makes me worry about all the stash and supplies I have! I see from the comments that we are not alone though and perhaps the passion and enjoyment will return. I sure hope so.
I can be glad that I have done some other interesting things in the meantime. I'm 68 and just really learning to cook and bake. I'm looking forward to returning to quilting interests though.
Enjoy your beautiful new quilt top and Have a Happy New Year :-)

  13. I hope your quilting mojo comes back soon, for your sake and also because I so enjoy seeing your work. Are you still making the weekly cake?

  14. I love this quilt, Thelma. And it was good to "hear your voice" again. It's been a long, strange time. Happy New Year.

  15. I can spend about 15 minutes in my sewing room looking for something, and that's when I run into patterns, books, or fabrics I haven't seen in a while and think 'I need to make this one.' Already I have several patterns out that I'm itching to work on, but I am determined to finish at least one project before starting another. I hope you find your mojo; you are one of the best quilters, and you are always so inspiring.

  16. I don't think it is you, Thelma. I think it is just the state of things in general. Missing my quilt guild, my quilting friends, my trips to the quilt shop and my quilting motivation! Thinking we just need to hang together and we will get through this and make more wonderful quilts.

I try to respond to all my comments but sometimes I just don't get the job done. Please know that I am reading your comments and appreciate you taking the time to add a little of yourself to my blog.
