Parade Day!

I think when Lisa, Nicole and I came up with our idea for a Quick Curve Ruler Sew-Along, we promised a parade at the end of the summer.  I think September 1st constitutes the end of summer, so hurray, it's parade day!

First up is Dawn's Dancing Churndash pattern, which she has named Good Day Sunshine.

I think Dawn was the last one to start the sew-along but the first one to have a totally finished quilt.  Click here to read and see more.  Great Job Dawn!  I love the pattern and your choice of fabrics.  I've added this one to my To Do List.

Here's another finished top, this Metro Rings was made by Ramona.

Ramona is leaving the borders wide to try her hand at scalloped borders.  This is another beautifully pieced top made with some of my favorite colors.  Great Job Ramona!!

Here is Mickey's top, Metro Lattice

Mickey enjoyed working on Metro Lattice so much she plans to make Metro Rings next.

Kristen also made a Metro Lattice.

Vicky has all her Metro Scope blocks pieced, they just need to be connected.

Here is Diana's Metro Rings, that she name Disappearing Rings. 

Diana is also playing around with a smaller Metro Rings block for a baby quilt that she's named Teething Rings!  HAHAHA good one.  Click here to read all about it!  Great Job Diana!

And here's one more Metro Rings quilt, queen size!

Susan made this quilt as a blessing quilt for her son and his bride to be.  Friends and family will write words of blessing for their marriage in the background fabric! Great Job Susan!  But I think this quilt will get even better!

And here's what I made for the sew along!

One Metro Scope block.

This block was easy to piece and came together perfectly.  I think this is a good first block if you're still undecided which pattern you want to try. I hope to make this block into a pillow.

And my Metro Hold the Lattice, using Persimmon by BasicGrey.

I need to get this quilt top to a quilter,  it will look great in my sunroom this fall, wait, it's September 1st, it IS fall.

And finally, remember this?  This was the project I made from Jenny's misfit blocks.  I named my project Round About.

Buggy Barn Quilt Show

I'm heading to the Buggy Barn Quilt Show next week where Im meeting up with some friends to enjoy a week of classes, shopping, great food and fun.  Those Buggy Barn gals know how to host a quilt show, this will be the second time that I've attended.

I'll be taking a class with Kim Diehl.

I think I own all Kim's books but have yet to make a single project, I don't know why, I pretty much love everything she designs.  Well that's about to change.

I'm also going to take a class with Pat Wys.

I've signed up for Road Trip, the cover quilt on her Knockout Neutrals book.  Pat's another designer that I have admired and am excited to learn all I can about her take on working with neutrals.

I'm also going to take a wool mat class with Stacy of Buttermilk Basin.

My projects are all cut out and my sewing machine is packed, I'll be back in a week to tell you all about it.

Harvey - Finish

I decided I wanted a springy Harvey and used all the yellow prints from PB&J by BasicGrey.  The background is the blue grunge from that family.

This is Lifetime Quilt Number 141

The pattern is Harvey by Miss Rosie's Quilt Co.

The fabric is PB&J by BasicGrey.

It finished at 72" x 72".

It has approximately 312 pieces.

I enjoyed working on this quilt,  it was fast and easy, a lot of bang for your buck.  I think you would enjoy making this quilt too!

Moda Building Blocks

Remember when I blogged about the Moda Building Blocks quilt that I saw at Market?

And how I couldn't wait for the pattern and how I was going to make mine using nothing but polka-dot fabric?  Good news, the pattern is now available.  The Fat Quarter Shop has it listed here, I'm sure other shops have it too! (Update, the FQS is currently sold out of the Moda Building Blocks pattern cards but will have more online tomorrow, August 12th.)

I'm glad my pattern is on the way, I've had a hard time not playing with my dot fabric and have made 2 more blocks, blocks not in the pattern but blocks I like.

If I had to wait much longer I would have a Thelma Building Blocks instead of a Moda Building Blocks.

Super Nova - Failure to Finish

So this is the pattern that has been occupying my time and thoughts, day and night, for the last week.

As you may recall, I was a little worried about my background, I knew I wanted something different, but probably not as different as what was used in the pattern.

So I decided to use Terra Australis by Emma Jean Jansen for my print fabric and Peppered Cotton Fog for my background fabric.  

This is the first block I pieced.  And while I think this bock is very pretty, and I feel confident that Terra Australis would make a very pretty Super Nova, I wasn't going for pretty, I was wanting something with more energy. 

So I tried something different.

This fabric is by Alison Glass for Andover.  Not only are these prints more vibrant, the background fabric is more of what I had in mind when I started.  (The background fabric is snow globe, fabric.com had 19 yards the last time I checked. (click here)

Once I was happy with my fabric choice the top went together like a dream.  Although there is a learning curve to working with such large pieces.

The fabric is by Alison Glass for Andover.

It finished at 72" x 84"

It has approximately 143 pieces.

Next up, Harvey!  I've been waiting since Market for this pattern to be available, and now it is. (click here).   I see a great big basket quilt in my future!  I think you need one too!
