Finally, something worth showing

So after the stems were stitched the next step was to add the berries to the stems.  I chose to machine appliqué my berries.  Once the berries were attached I tore off the stabilizer and squared up the blocks.
36 berry blocks all done!

I've also finished all 180 required geese.

The only thing left to do is make the lily blocks.

Since all the pieces and parts are ready to go, all I have to do is lay everything out, sew it together, press, and square up.  It takes less than 20 minutes to assemble one lily block, start to finish.

I think the hardest part is trying to decide which one to make next, so far I love them all.

Just in case you're stopping by for the first time in a couple of  weeks, this is the makings of Coastal Lily by Minick & Simpson.

  4. Love, love the colors for the lilies. It is really unusual to see something other than the traditional colors in this style pattern.

  8. I with Lee, Thelma, you ALWAYS have something worth showing. This quilt is going to be amazing, can't wait to see it finished. I love the berry blocks. I have a wonderful BOM applique quilt pattern, a gift from an Australian designer, and a dear friend of mine, Gail Pan. It's called Berries and Bluebirds and oh my word, there are so many berries. I look at yours and think, Wow, she did that so beautifully??? But my hands are no longer able to cut out small pieces, so I haven't gotten past the first block. Maybe one of these days...

  10. Love how you parted out all the sections so you could do it assembly line style! You are very organized and focused :) would love to see a close up of how you machine appliqué the berries as circles always intimidate me when machine stitching especially tiny ones. PS - you always have something worth showing!
