Latest Finish . . . .

I finished my Bonfire Samper quilt top.  I enjoyed piecing every block.  I forget show much I love a good sampler quilt until I start working on one.  I fret over every fabric choice for every piece of every block, and enjoy every minute.  It's like a little color experiment with each block.

The Sister Sampler  Quilts book has three different settings for the sampler blocks.  This setting was my favorite, what a simple idea, but it packs a lot of punch.  I made one small change, I added cornerstones between the sampler blocks using the same tan fabric from the outer border, to pull that color through the quilt.

This is Lifetime Quilt Number 173
It finished at 82" x 82"
The pattern is Bonfire Sampler from the Sister Sampler Quilts book by AnneMarie Chany
The fabric is Valley by A Quilting Life and Basic Mixology by Studio M for Moda
It has approximately 668 pieces.

I recommend this book, it has three great settings for the sampler blocks, a nice variety of sampler blocks, and very nice illustrations and directions.

Maybe it would make a nice Valentines Day present!

And I continued with my goal of piecing houses for my Village project from my Bonfire Sampler project.

Here are the latest 4, I'm now up to 8! LOL

Next up, the APQ Quilt Along,  It All Adds Up.  Have you started  your project yet?  I've seen some great finishes on Instagram, #apqquiltalong.

  1. Love your finished sampler and the little sashing between the star points and the blocks!

  2. Fabulous, another very successful quilt.

  3. Fantastic! I love how you floated the center with that small inner border.
I struggle with samplers. I think it's because of my limited time for quilting. I find that making each block takes me so long. I could cut a whole quilt and I would still be struggling with that one block. This is why my UFO pile contains mostly samplers. I love them though.

  4. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE your sampler. The colors are fabulous!!!! Great finish.

  5. Great way to balance the center sampler blocks and really makes a good balance for the gold outer points. Another marvelous finish Thelma and really like this top.

  6. Love the Bonfire Sampler quilt. Adding the cornerstones was a great idea. Hard to imagine it without them.

  7. This is so gorgeous! I just love it! :)

  8. Thelma, I am still trying to start last years APQ!!! lol
Your quilt is beautiful! I was surprised when you gave the dimensions of it. I wouldn't have guessed that it was as big as it is.

  9. I really LOVE your sampler quilt Thelma! The setting is so striking and distinctive! I am curious about the other possible layouts so maybe I need to hunt down the book?

  10. I just love this quilt! The setting is different, but really striking and the color combinations that you have chosen are just, I don't know...inviting. Love it!

  11. Another beautiful finish. Like the others, I especially like the floating HSTs around the center blocks.

  12. I LOVE sampler quilts also... to sew, and to look at. This is a fabulous sampler... love the fresh colours, and such a great setting! So much to see...
