Readin' & Writin' & 'Rithmetic

I finished this quilt on April 21, 2021.

I changed the Thimble Creek pattern by updating the sashing to square in a square blocks and adding an outer border.

This is Lifetime Quilt Number 300
The pattern is Readin' & Writin' & 'Rithmetic by Roxie Wood for Thimble Creek Quilts
The fabric is Moda Bella Solid 9900-16 Christmas Red and 9900-98 White
It finished at 65" x 65"
It has approximately 1,542 pieces

This is old news, I'm updating my blog with prior finishes since it's the best journal of my quilting life.  Since it is old news I'm not allowing comments but don't hesitate to email me cupcakesndaisies@gmail.com or direct message me on Instagram, Thelmacupcake with any questions.

Thanks so much.

Dessert Sampler Finish

One of my quilt bucket list items is to piece a quilt top using nothing but solids, make that more than two solids, since I do have a few red and white quilts.

Last year a friend selected this beautiful group of Moda Bella Solids for me as a YoT birthday present.  That was the hardest part of piecing a solids quilt, selecting a pleasing assortment of solids, and I didn't even have to do it.

I love a good sampler pattern and decided Moda's Dessert Sampler Quilt pattern was a good fit for my solids bundle.

I replaced a few blocks with some of my own and rearranged the placement of a few others, but I think is still looks very similar to the original.

This is Lifetime Quilt Number 233
The pattern is Dessert Sampler Quilt by Moda
The fabric is all Moda Bella Solids
It finished at 70" x 78"
It has approximately 2,082 pieces.

Next up, I need to whip up about 3 Christmas tops, Christmas in September, doesn't quite have a motivational ring to it, but thinking about giving the quilts for Christmas presents is motivation enough.

Red and White Finish

One of my quilting goals for 2017 is to piece a Red and White quilt.  And this is my go to bible when it comes to red and white quilts, and one of my favorite quilt books.

I have at least 20 pages of quilts marked with post-its that I would like to make at some point, so it was just a matter of selecting one of the 20, which was easier than I expected, mainly because I know this is not my last red and white quilt.

So this is the quilt top I decided on, first, because as you know, hsts are my favorite block, and also because this is one of the quilts in my Red and White Tribute Quilt.  I think it would be fun to have life-size versions of all the mini quilts in my tribute quilt.

I pre-washed my Moda Bella Solids, and I used a color catcher for the red,  it didn't pick up any color at all, way to go Moda.

And Voila!

This is Lifetime Quilt Number 208 - Red and White Lady of the Lake
It finished at 66 1/2" x 74 1/2"
The red fabric is Moda Bella Solid Christmas - 9900-16 - the white is Moda Bella Solid 9900-98
It has 645 hsts for a total of 1,290 pieces.
The large hsts are 6 1/2" and the small ones are 2 1/2"

I miss-counted my 2 1/2" blocks and ended up with 125 extra, plus the pieces for even more.

That's OK, that's just a jump start on the next one, sometime down the road.
