A Few More Rungs up the Ladder . . . . . .

I'm still working on my Jacobs Ladder..........

Here's a depiction of another kind of Jacob's Ladder that's on the Bath Abbey in England, I just love those angels climbing that ladder. But since they have wings, maybe they're just resting. . . . . like me.

Jacob's Ladder is a fairly straightforward block, but for some reason I'm just not getting the blocks together as quickly as I should. I'm not sure if I'm enjoying the weather and don't have time to sew or using the weather as an excuse to not get in my sewing room....probably a little of both.

My plan was to have this project finished by the end of March, I'm giving it a couple more days, if I don't get the rest of the blocks done or start feeling a little more enthusiastic about making the blocks, I'm putting it a project box and moving on. I know once I get all the blocks made it will only take 2 or 3 days to get it finished up.

It's been so long since I blogged about this project, here's a reminder

Here's one block....

Here's 4 blocks.....

I've made more than 4 blocks, but this gives you a good idea of the look and feel.

If you like this look and feel, you can buy a kit for Climbing Jacobs Ladder II by River's Bend Quilts from The Quilt Merchant.

I hope you have a hippity hoppity weekend, we have a small tradition at our house,

we drink our coffee on Easter Sunday morning from these mugs . . . .

Nothing says Easter like drinking coffee from a bunny's butt.

We've had these mugs for ages....some years my husband thinks it's fun to drink from these mugs and other years, not so much. I never know until I hand him his mug.

If you happen to catch any of the NCAA Men's basketball games on TV Saturday, look for me, I'll be waving at you!

Have fun and be safe.....

Note to Pam, please send your address to me at so I can mail your Block Explosion book, THANKS!

  1. Those Jacobs Ladder blocks are just GORGEOUS! I can't wait to see more and more!

  2. I love the way the blocks come together! Very nice!

  3. Thelma, Those blocks are gorgeous. Hang in there and finish them, you will be glad you did.

  4. Those blocks are gorgeous. I'm rooting for you to finish it!! I just love it!!

  5. I think it just seems like it's taking a long time because you have a big ladder to climb...lots of tiny pieces in each block and lots of blocks!
But I sure do understand feeling like you're spinning your wheels on a project and wanting to move to something else.
LOVE the bunny mugs! Great tradition!

  6. The blocks are absolutely beautiful. The bunny mug is so cute, but I wouldn't be able to drink with his backside looking at me, I would be busy laughing.

  7. I really really really like the look of those blocks. Your fabric choices are wonderful.

  8. Beautiful blocks. I love the color combo. Happy Easter!

  9. I love your blocks too! Have a happy weekend!

  10. Those blocks put together are absolutely gorgeous.
OMG those mugs are a hoot! Have a very Happy Easter!

  11. I'm so bummed to read you're not very enthusiastic about this quilt, cause it's one of my faves and I can't wait to see it finished. Maybe a little Easter break will help get you back in the Jacob's Ladder mood.

    Enjoy your Easter weekend!

  12. It's going to be a beautiful quilt. I love the colors. Happy Easter to you!

  13. Love the colors.....can't wait to see it finished.

  14. Thelma so glad you are still enjoying your cupcake calendar. This one looks yummy. So does your Jacob's ladder blocks. Keep them going! Can't wait to see the finished quilt. I didn't get much sewing done either and am still not in the swing of things. Lovely weather here though! Happy Monday!
