Another Hallowe'en 1904

While Nicole and I were working on our Hallowe'en 1904 projects by Blackbird Designs, we received several comments and notes from other quilters who had been wanting to make this quilt but hadn't gotten to it, for all the various reasons we quilters don't get to "that" project.  I recently got a note from Elaine who sewed along with Nicole and I but didn't tell us until she was done, sort of a secret sew-along.

One of the things that had kept Elaine from starting her project was the thought of appliquéing all those stars, so she used the Buggy Barn method of piecing them, just like I did.

And here's Elaine's version of Hallowe'en 1904.

Elaine's quilt is the perfect combination of Nicole's changes, my additions, and a twist of her own.  Elaine added the owl block from my quilt, the cat pumpkin from Nicole's and fixed that moon block that drove me and most of you crazy!  I absolutely love it, Great Job Elaine!

Elaine doesn't have a blog, would you mind leaving a comment letting her know what a great job she did, I know she'll just be thrilled to hear from you.

Thanks so much,

  14. Hi Elaine! Your Halloween version is gorgeous. I love that you took the improvements from Nicole and Thelma and made your own unique quilt. I also have my kit waiting for a happy ending so your quilt will serve to inspire me. I love that you fixed the moon. I really wanted to use the moon, but, like Thelma, I was struggling with it. I might have to borrow that idea from you. Thanks!!

  15. Beautiful quilts just take our breath away. This is one of those quilts. You were brave, very brave Elaine. And you have a beautiful quilt to show for it, in the company of Nicole and Thelma. How cool is that.

  16. This quilt is just magnificent and I love the addition of the Owl--that would be my grandson's favorite. I guess I'm one of the one's that the Moon didn't drive crazy, but I can see the traditional setting is very nice and fits in beautifully. Great quilt!

  17. Great job, Elaine! I like your "moon fix!" I moved the pattern to my To Do folder, after "watching" Thelma and Nicole and saving photos. Now, I will add your photo to the group.

  29. OK, I will definitely be doing this one in time for next year!!! Great, great job, Elaine!!!
Soooo, another funny - I went to my mother's in Savannah, as she just got out of the hospital .... but on the way home, I was thinking about this quilt - really!!! And then all of a sudden I look up and there was the South Caroline emblem with the tree and the moon...... backwards!!! I never realized it, as much as I've been through So Carolina, but thinking about & seeing it at the same time - I had to just laugh out loud!! I also like Elaine's solution to combine it and make it look more realistic (I know it's probably supposed to look sort of folk arty).
Enjoy your Thanksgiving - my daughter and grands should be here any time.
