I'm counting down the days to Christmas and could not be happier about it!
My Countdown to Christmas quilt is home from the quilter, just in the "Nick" of time!
Connie Lancaster at Quilts Plus in Indianapolis worked her Christmas magic on this top with a custom design. I really like the pattern in the white sashing and think it all looks wonderful. I enlarged this photo with the hope that you can see what a wonderful job (as always) Connie did.
There was one main reason that I selected the bedroom furniture in the guest room, the ability to change the fabric on the headboard. I thought I would be changing that fabric all the time to match my quilts, but I have to admit, it's a little harder to swap out the fabric on that headboard than I expected, and I've been living with a French General red floral print ever since I got the bed, until now.
Changing the fabric involves taking the bed apart, then the headboard apart, then attaching the fabric to the foam board, and then putting it all back together. But I've been eager to get this Countdown to Christmas fabric on that headboard ever since I finished the quilt.

Here's the bed, all made and ready for Christmas. The quilt was my first finish for this year and making those pillows in February was one of the best uses of my time, 3 days worth of my time, but I don't think I would be able to squeeze that into my schedule right now, I'm so glad they are done.

It's very rare that I make a quilt exactly like the pattern and even more rare when I use the same fabric as the pattern, and even though I've never seen an ugly project made with Countdown to Christmas by Sweetwater for Moda, I think this pattern with this fabric was the perfect marriage. Which reminds me, why didn't Sweetwater do a Christmas fabric line this year! I hope they come up with one for next year.

Now really, don't you think this is plenty of Christmas cheer for one room, but wait, there's more!
Christmas in the City is also quilted (by Connie) and hanging on the wall.

I've been counting the days until I could decorate this room and could not be happier with how it all came together.
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find Santa sound asleep in my guest room come Christmas morning!
Thelma it is soooooooooo wonderful...that room is Christmas heaven. I just finished my quilt and it's on it's way to my quilter right now. I'm so excited. Absolutely one of my favorite quilts ever!

You have done something I have dreamed about for years...a bedroom decorated for Christmas. Your quilts and pillows are BEAUTIFUL! Great job! And the headboard...love it!
ReplyDeleteYour guest room looks fabulous! I hope you are having a guest (or guests) come to stay, so you have a chance to show it off for real, not just digitally.
ReplyDeleteI need to make some pillows or pillow cases to go with my quilts; that's been on my to-do list far too long!
He would be crazy not to take a nap here! The room is absolutely adorable! When I move I plan on having a guest room that I can change with the holidays...so much fun!
ReplyDeleteThe guest room looks amazing! Love your Christmas quilts!
ReplyDeleteYour guest room looks so cheerful and inviting Thelma, it really is wonderful! This quilt is on my very long to do list and even though I was away from quilting for almost 2 years with surgeries and health interruptions, I now have a very comfortable sewing room up stairs in a larger (still not huge) warmer, room. Hubby even had new carpeting put in with a special pad to ease the problems I have with my feet due to Peripheral Neuropathy...but I didn't comment to tell you of my woes, I simply wanted to say that in my new sewing room, in the space of 4 days I have been able to sew all day long and this morning I will be adding the last borders to a quilt I started 3 years ago, by tomorrow two new finished flimsys will be on there way to my SIL in Oregon. She is a custom Long Arm Quilter. She does a lot of quilts for the Sisters Quilt Show each year. So, with these two crossed off my list, I am getting closer to starting my "Starry Eyed" quilt. Now I just need to get online and see if I can find the same fabric line, or one that I love just as much for this beautiful quilt. *Okay, so I digressed...well, you know me Thelma, I always pontificate, it's at terrible weakness and I apologize. More to the point though, I REALLY love your quilt. Thanks for putting up with me, Big Hugs...
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT ALL!!!! That all made a perfect Christmas bedroom! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI knew I was going to kick myself for not buying that line. I was in love with it but I really have too many bundles laughing at me from my closet. And it was a Christmas line so I was really on the fence... As always, I regret not snatching it up.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right on that marriage thing. I thought that quilt was perfect for that line. You did make that bigger though. I'll need to go back to your post and review the details because that fit perfectly on the bed.
Have you started your Xmas shopping? I have only two presents under my belt... I'm so behind.
WOW! I want to come live there :-) What a great quilt!
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful space for guests, Thelma. so inviting! Love it all. That quilt pattern is on my to do list (but not with the christmas fabric line). I think I need to check out the pattern once more and gather up my supplies for it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful guest room. I love the quilt - just finished mine - teehee! Christmas in the City is delightful.
ReplyDeleteSanta? I just might be in that bed Christmas morning! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOH my gosh... you are so clever... I didn't realize that you had a master plan! I wish I could get my hands on that fabric! I wish Sweetwater would have just reissued that line of holiday fabric... that would have been just fine!
ReplyDeleteThe Full House quilt is just amazing. Your MBS quilt is perfectly gorgeous. I don't know how Santa is ever going to leave and deliver gifts!
Your guest room is so cheery and inviting with all its Christmassy decor! It all came together wonderfully. I love the quilt, the Townhouse wall-hanging, the pillows, and headboard and how they complement each other so beautifully. Great "eye" for seeing the possibilities!
ReplyDeleteWow!! Can I move in? Lovely, lovely room. I just love Christmas colors so I'd keep it that way all year round!
ReplyDeleteWOW!! This is too incredible!! Love it!

Your room looks gorgeous! I forgot about your Full House quilt...love the Thelmasized houses! Lucky guests :)
ReplyDeleteOne word... Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteFantastic guest room for the holidays... Does one need reservations? It's so inviting... it should be featured in a holiday magazine!
ReplyDeleteI love love love the Countdown to Christmas fabric. I've been wanted to make this quilt since last year. Love how you coordinated with your headboard. Very inspiring!
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteAh...did you say guest room? Where do I book for a stay!! This quilt is magnificent, the pillows-perfect, and the wall-hanging; well, I wouldn't be able to sleep just admiring it all night:-D Beautiful work and a nice way to get into the season, XOXO
ReplyDeleteThat is so beautiful! And it reminded me that I need to finish my houses quilt...
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you.
LOVE IT!! I am sure people will be lining up to stay there. Merry Christmas. Kristy
ReplyDeleteI love how fresh and bright it is. Santa may have to kick me out first!
ReplyDeleteAnother gorgeous gorgeous quilt to add to the family! I like that you made it bigger by the blocks, looks more balanced. I've been to the original and cannot find how you made it a wee bigger - you'll have to spill the beans. How clever to have a changable headboard also.
ReplyDeleteI do hope you have guests coming to enjoy such a beautiful room. Love the Full House, I simply HAD to have one, and plan to make it over in tropical fun fabrics and call them cabanas - I have it all kitted up to do - time, eh!! Thanks for sharing!
