Another Red Letter Day ?!?!?

I'm still needing a few more Christmas quilt finishes if I'm going to meet my goal of giving Christmas quilts to family and friends this year.  Here's my 5th Christmas quilt finish for 2018.

This is Lifetime Quilt Number 234
The pattern is Red Letter Day by Camille Roskelley for Thimble Blossoms.
The fabric is Overnight Delivery by Sweetwater for Moda
It finished at 68" x 68"
It has approximately 657 pieces.

This pattern packs a lot of punch for such a small time commitment.  I pieced this top in 4 afternoons.  I thought it was a good choice for the Overnight Delivery fabric, the big block pieces allow the festive prints to really shine.

This is the third time I've used this pattern.

I made this fall Red Letter Day version for my brother and his wife.

And this summer version that I made 4 years ago has been on my bed every August since.

Two more Christmas finishes would be nice, but all the Halloween projects on social media are calling my name, maybe I can squeeze in one more Christmas finish before October.

Another Red Letter Day

Happy December!!

I've been doing the normal December activities, like shopping and decorating, plus I've had a little time to sew.

Every  now and then I've been piecing Red Letter Day blocks.  The blocks are huge, over 22 inches, and they go together easily.

Before I knew it I had pieced a whole wall of Red Letter Day blocks.

I made a few extra to cover my brother's king size bed.

This is lifetime quilt number 146
The pattern is Red Letter Day by Camille Roskelley for Thimbleblossoms. (available here)
The fabric is by Sandy Gervais for Moda, a mixture of a couple of her fall lines.
It's currently 90 1/2 inches square and has approximately 1,168 pieces.

If you need a big quilt this pattern is a great choice,

I've been getting my Christmas quilts out, if the sun ever shines I'll take and share a few pictures.  I've decided you can't have too many Christmas quilts and plan to spend the rest of this month working on  another one. Currently I have no plans other than the them, Christmas.

I hope your decorating and shopping are going well and that you're able to squeeze in a little sewing too!

It's a Red Letter Day

Anytime I can blog about a finish on a Monday it's a Red Letter Day.  But in this case it really is Red Letter Day.

This is Lifetime Quilt Number 139
The fabric is Fruit Stand by Jane Farnham for Camelot Cottons.
This quilt finished at 67" x 67"
It has approximately 657 pieces.

The colors in this line aren't quite as garish as they look in the picture, they're summer colors but softer, very appealing and soothing to the eye.

This project was the perfect change of pace, no curves.  I was wanting a little curve break after finishing Gypsy Kisses and before starting on my QCR project.  I think RLD is a wonderful summer project. Grab 16 fat quarters and a 1/2 yard of your favorite colors, throw in  some background fabric and you're good to go.  After seeing all the RLD pictures on Instagram I could not help myself, I had to make my own.

Today is the start of my Quick Curve Ruler Sew-along, are you joining me?

I've decided to make Metro Scope, it was a tough call but I really like this block, it's different.

For my fabric I'm going to use Persimmon by BasicGrey.

Lisa, at Stashmaster,  and Nicole, at Sisters Choice,  are sewing along, and each working on a pattern different from mine.  A couple other friends are "thinking about it".  Drop me a note if you're joining in.  If you don't have a blog share your pictures and progress with any of us.   If you do have a blog drop me a note so I can link to it and follow your progress.    We don't have any rules, but if we get a few joiners we'll have a parade, how about Labor Day?
