I'm a . . . . .

If you're a regular visitor to my blog, then you know quite a bit about me,

I'm a quilter
I'm a needle turn appliquer
I'm a wife
I'm a mama
I'm a dog lover
I'm a nut when it comes to selecting fabric
I'm a cupcake lover
I'm a regular at Starbucks
Oh, I'm a lot of things I guess, but one thing I am, that I don't think I've mentioned before,

I'm a runner!

This weekend I'm meeting my daughter at Walt Disney World in Florida and on Sunday we're running a half marathon. It's a Princess Half Marathon (it's Disney, of course it's a princess something!)

To commemorate the occasion we decided to bedazzle our running shoes. So if you're running the race, and you see these shoes, say "Hi"! I'm thinking I may have the only cupcake and daisy bedazzled running shoes in the race.

I wonder how many of these sparkly gems will make it to the finish line,
I don't care,
just as long as I do!

I hope you have a magical weekend too!

I'll back with the Eventide update on Tuesday!

  4. I did not know that! How great is that. I'm horrible at running but looked into training a while back so I could do a half marathon, but then life got in the way.

Best of luck to you and your daughter!!! Enjoy!!

  5. Good luck on the marathon - have fun. I'm also a starbucks nut - gold card member and all - but need it to keep up with the pace of work and quilting. Have a great weekend, will have you an update on my Eventide for Tuesday.

  8. Have fun doing the Princess! I can't run, but I power walk. The Princess is out of my reach, so I enjoy it vicariously through others. Sparkle out there!! :D

  9. I'm not running or even in Florida but friends from here are running in memory of Carrie Cates who lost her life in Oct 2009 while running in Florida.I think this is the second year hey have done this. Carrie had hoped to run it. She left behind her parents and 6 kids in Florida. She had just moved to Florida from NH 2 months before the accident. Carrie had the brightest smile and friendliest wave when you drove by her when she was running.
Good luck in the half marathon.

  14. Well, of course you need sparkleies for your feet! Running a half marathon with your daughter- That is so exciting! My son is a runner, he did his first full marathon last year. I couldn't even imagine running with him... even when I use to run it was just a whimpy 3 miles!

  17. Hey, and by the way... although I would like to be a runner, I'm REALLY wishing I enjoyed needle turn applique... so many more possibilities in quilts!!
I wonder what those two things that you enjoy have in common?

  19. Thelma, I love your 'Princess' shoes...surely the bling you have added will help you along the way. Have a wonderful time and I'm wishing you and your daughter both luck...may you have 'wings on your feet' as you join in the marathon. Hugs...

  20. I hope you and Ashley have fun, run fast, and dazzle the bystanders with your fine princess selves! But mostly have fun. And if you don't show a pre-race or post-race picture of the two of you in bedazzled running shoes, pearls and tiaras, you are in so much trouble!

  21. This is what I get for being so far behind in my blog reading...I learn you were in my neck of the woods AFTER you've returned home! So, how was it? I'm sure you and your daughter did great. I "ran" the inaugural Princess Half Marathon...it was the first time I did anything like that....and it was a blast...seeing so many runners in their tiaras ;-) Pictures, please?

  23. Did the gems stay on? I want to bedazzle my tennis shoes for track so they are unique to me! I'm not sure how to go about doing it and if they will even last! Help me out please! :)

    1. Kyleigh - I used a hot glue gun to individually attach each one of those gems to my shoes. Use tweezers, a hot glue gun is called that for a reason! I only lost a couple of those gems the entire time I ran in them, which was probably 6 months. Go for it, anything that makes running more fun is worth the effort, good luck to you and your track team.
