Father's Fancy........

This is quilt top #20, I made it in 2007. It is made with 23 different red fabrics. (That's my daughter's father's head and fingers you see at the top of this photo ; ))

The pattern is Father's Fancy from the "Scraps" book by Judy Martin.

Here's a close-up of one block.

I'm very partial to the quilting on this project, most white spaces have feathers, even the little white space in each half square triangle.

Sometimes it lives here..........

And other times it lives here.......................

  2. I love this red and white quilt so much! Thanks for posting a full picture of it. I even have this book and didn't know (ok, maybe I'd forgotten) that it was part of it. And what a great way to thin out the red scraps. My kind of quilt. Now I can't wait to learn about the one above this one on the quilt rack. Each time you post a picture, I see a quilt somewhere in it that I want to see more of! Am really enjoying your blog.

  3. I have a basket of red FQ's, and I've been looking for a pattern to use them in. This quilt is fabulous!

  6. Thanks for emailing me back to the comment that I left last night - not sure HOW I missed the lifetime list on your side bar but I did - by the way - what a very clever idea!! I'd love to do something similar on my blog sharing links to where I blogged about each of the quilts made...

It's hard to believe it's been almost 3 years already - but I spent a whole year just before my twins were born hosting an ongoing mini 9 patch swap (finish at 3") and I have HUNDREDS of minis in all colors! It wouldn't be hard for me to pull out all of my red ones and get started on a quilt like your Father's Fancy! ;)

I really love it - thanks again for pointing me in the right direction to see a closeup. It was sooo calling out to me when I saw it on the sofa behind the popcorn ;)

    Love from Texas! ~bonnie
