Progress . . . .

I had a very productive day yesterday. It didn't get off to a great start, for some reason I woke up at 2 am, and then started counting the days until my daughter gets home for Christmas, the 23rd. Then I started worrying about all the things I needed to get done. Why is it that problems seem to be magnified in the middle of the night? Anyway, I finished up my shopping and got my presents for friends that live not near but far in the mail. I didn't even have to pay extra for air, I had enough time to pay less for ground shipping, guess I wasn't as far behind as I thought.

At any rate, I feel more in control of my To Do list and expect to start sleeping better. I didn't get any time in my sewing room, but that's to be expected this time of year....I guess....

To bring you up to date,

This is the top I'm working on now.

This is where I stood the last time you saw it.

This is where I am now!
(wow, the sun must have been out when I took this picture)

I went ahead and added the star while the quilt top was a manageable size.
I'm still loving this pattern and these small blocks.

At first I had this quilt hanging over the bannister in the living room, then I decided that was just too much for that room so I replaced the red and cream quilts that are normally in the sunroom with it.

About 10 years ago, my daughter and I went to one of those ceramic places for an afternoon of crafting and girl fun. This was before I started quilting. I thought ceramics might be my artistic calling.

We didn't do this, but it's cute, don't you think?

We did this! Ash and I split up the ornaments. For some reason we felt compelled to use every odd color in that store! I still remember how much we laughed and enjoyed doing something different together. Just a few more days until she's home again, I'm ready!

  1. I LOVE the checkerboard you're doing around the tree!

  2. love the quilt, it is looking great. I am thinking now the more I see of yours I should make this quilt too!

  3. I'm loving your Christmas cupcake!!!!! Your Christmas Tree quilt is coming along nicely. I like seeing the progress on your design wall. I might try this pattern. I remember making projects with my kids at the ceramic studios. Lots of fun. We made a few platters for my mom with handprints and thumbprints from the grandkids. Enjoy your time with your daughter.

  4. WOW everything was awesome. Good job on the quilts, I love seeing how much progress you are making. I've never done ceramics, but that ornament dish looks wonderful, and more important full of nice memories.

  5. Love your new Christmas cupcake! The quilt is going to be beautiful. You always do a beautiful job. I did ceramics years ago...the plate is cute. Have fun with your daughter.
Your decorations and tree in yesterdays post are beautiful.

  6. Christmas cupcake is adorable, my friend. Yes, the tree quilt is looking fabulous! Good job. What a fun memory of painting the plate with your daughter. Looks like you had fun using every color in the store. I love the quilt over your couch!

  7. Thelma, you are really going to town on the new quilt and it looks wonderful. I enjoyed all the photos you shared on this post but there is one that just took my breath away. The quilt hanging over the red couch. It is absolutely beautiful. I know I could never duplicate the fabrics but do you know what the name of the pattern is? Oh my gosh, it is just breathtaking. Your daughter will be so delighted when she walks in and sees how beautifully everything is done for Christmas. I'm excited for you just thinking about her visit. Thanks for sharing all the memories.

  8. I'm loving the Christmas Tree quilt. That background is awesome.

  9. I like the red check border you added to "Oh Christmas Tree."

  10. Your tree quilt is moving along nicely and QUICKLY. Look at all those tiny squares! And that red checkerboard border looks awesome. What a good idea. You always have such innovative ideas to tweek the patterns you're working on. All those 2000-pc Millenium quilts have nothing on you. :)

I try to respond to all my comments but sometimes I just don't get the job done. Please know that I am reading your comments and appreciate you taking the time to add a little of yourself to my blog.
