Wow, where did February go, it doesn't seem possible that it's time for our next set of Blogger Girl BOM blocks already, we're up to block 3.
I think I said something last month about not putting any red in this month's blocks, I was just kidding.
So here is version 1
and here is Version 2,
same pattern, just different fabric placement.
This block is my favorite block so far. It went together in no time. I used Monique's Fit to be Quarter and Companion rulers to make the square in a square blocks. I've not had much luck with these blocks in the past, I always had trouble with shrinkage, I would start out with the correct block size, but by the time I added each corner of fabric, my block would be too small. I did not have that trouble using Monique's rulers, the block is oversized then trimmed to the correct size.
Here are my blocks, I love them all, even those robot heads! My fabric is Hometown by Sweetwater for Moda.
I hope you've been checking out the blocks on Flickr, there are some amazing fabric choices out there. We're up to almost 100 pictures of blocks.
Monique will be demonstrating her rulers along with providing the block directions over at her blog, go check it out, here.
And finally here are a few of my Blogger Girl BOM friends who also have some blocks to share, don't miss those either!

ReplyDeletep.s. - i don't think anyone believed you when you said you weren't going to use any red ... we'd all be like, "THELMA?!? are you OKAY?!?"
I love these blocks - I'm going to order my ruler today. BTW your quilt being done by Judy - Oh my...what a beautiful treasure! Can't wait to see the completed quilt!
ReplyDeleteLove your fussy cut red center. This is such a cute block. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThelma you have to have red in a quilt block or it just is not a " Thelma quilt " . Saw your Evening Bloom quilt on Judy's site being quilted I can not wait to see that one when she is done :-D
ReplyDeleteHi Thelma--I love your sunny yellow block, and I'm so happy when I look at your blocks all together.
